I 100x prefer the 2's and got two pairs (car and home
note that the bone conduction on the 2's are disabled by default and you have to turn them to classic mode.

I chose the version 2 because it has better sound quality provided by dual drivers, and also it uses a standard USB-C connector, instead of a proprietary magnetic connector.

The people in the referenced reddit thread say they can't hear them with their fingers in their ears. I find this very strange, as I can. Also, sometimes I wear mine with earplugs when I am in a noisy environment, and I can hear them fine.

I love these, but I wish they were just a little louder. Like, let these go to 11. But that's an edge case when my gym is running a class with loud AF music. I'm on my second set of the 2's, the original set shorted out or something after less than two months. One night, I worked out, I hit the sauna for 10 minutes, then I used the hydro massage chair for 10 minutes. I had them on the whole time. I went to the store and tried to turn them back on, but the power side was warm, and they wouldn't power on again. There's a note in there about not letting these get too sweaty. Really? Anyway, I've been more careful with wiping down the second set, and there have been no problems after a few months.

If helpful, I personally liked the OpenFit better than the OpenRun 1 (I have both). The OpenRun 1 vibrates your ear at louder volumes when you're trying to hear music in louder areas or around construction. I haven't been willing to try the v2 yet.

Why do you say that? Can you elaborate on what we're all missing?

BestBuy also has version 1 for $99 (blue version), and if you got a recent $5/$10 coupon and haven't used it yet (which I did), here's your chance

I've been through 3 of the version 1. I was wearing them 6-8 hrs/ day, and even though I cleaned them gently every day, they were giving me skin irritation problems. Earbuds give me similar problems but in-ear. I get about 8 months out of a unit, even though I was careful with them and stored them in a hard case.

I was a fan of how they effectively allowed me to keep working with my hands while taking phone calls. (I transport and install for a living.) I was not a fan of the stepped volume and how even max volume was insufficient for a typical NYC street during the day. Gradually the listening sound quality got grainier and grainier as the speakers broke in and wore out. The speech quality to the other person was always pretty mid.

Would have given the gen 1's a 7/10 for quality, performance, durability, but I've also tried half a dozen competing products, and none were as good. Not ready to spend on these again. I'm done with multitasking at that level. It burns me out and most people can wait until they have my full attention.

Music quality was not good enough for me to enjoy. I used to be an audio engineer so I'm a little snobby there and can also manage daily activities in silence.

FYI- this version 2 is kind of a hybrid with bone and air conduction, since it split the drivers/frequencies ("DualPitch"), compared to v1. It vibrates less. Some people prefer the "purer" v1 for more traditional bone conduction; this has technically better sound quality, USB-C charging rather than proprietary, newer Bluetooth, EQ options etc.
I have motion sickness and the v1 messed with my vestibular system. This is supposed to be better for that as well, but I ended up going with the Nothing Ear (open ear), which is truly excellent but a different stroke from bone conduction.

If you don't care so much about the bone conduction part, the Pro 2 have significantly better sound fidelity than the other models models. I've had the originals, Airs, Areopex, OpenRun, and Pro 2s - for music the Pro 2 win hands down. The only issues the is battery life is slightly worse and they're not water/sweat resistant compared to the OpenRun.

That said, if you want the bone conduction more than sound fidelity, you can enable it on the Pro 2, but you might as well save the extra $50 and buy the OpenRun from Costco for $80
