Beef prices are outrageous. $17 a pound with the bone is just not right.

Other than for how it may look on a picture I am unsure why anyone would want to buy this? The steak itself is huge with that bone and I am willing to be you are paying a lot of $$ for the bone.

I understand your points. Those are definitely considerations, but for those willing to pay the premium, they are the best flavor with the bone-in.

If you have priced boneless Prime Ribeyes lately, you'd understand this is a very nice deal to have the best. I look at it like I was paying maybe $20-$25 per lb. if this were Prime and Boneless, but I have not done any real math by removing the bone and weighing it afterwards to evaluate that.
That would really make a difference in the flavor and presentation, which is the other factor with this style.

I have never been lucky enough to have one, but I hear great things on all the cooking shows!
I will probably give this a try myself. My store says low stock.
That's likely due to the sale price this week.

Reading online it seems the bone adds nearly a pound to the weight. The location of the Rib is supposed to give you more flavor but I have had bone-in ribeyes that were nice and thick and they were very good. i really feel this is more of a show item.

Here is a guy that cooked both and said there was really no difference other than presentation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZm4axgITqQ

If i were to buy these i would probably cut off the frenched part of the Ribeye to make it easier to manage.

Something about these is just better than a standard ribeye - unfortunately my costco does not have these, but they are commonly at my walmart for around $45-$50. Im sure the costco one is better.

Tomahawk is one of the most expensive and least value steaks you can buy. The bone is always counted in weight. Easy pass for me.

They've done studies, and "bone in " steaks don't really taste any different than "boneless"...if there is any difference, it's the few bites right next to the bone which is a small percentage of the cut. And usually that part is more rare...maybe that explains it.
It does make a nice presentation, though....and it's fun to gnaw on the bone. Or give it to Fido.
