So SO much better than the twist dial weights. You can hold these close enough to your body to do a natural curl vs the twist weights are always too wide.
I do recommend getting the stand if you can also afford that. You can also add weights to this as you progress vs being g stuck at the lower weights of many of the twist dials.

It'll save your back a lot of stress, especially if you're picking up 50lb+ dumbbells. Personally, I just use steel garage shelving I bought off Amazon for $60.

I have a pair of these and while the quality for the price is unbeatable, I do hate how thick they made the dumbbell grips. It's a rubber handle and I believe it measures 38mm whereas most gym dumbbell handles are steel and 32-34mm so keep that in mind if you have small to medium-sized hands. You can always buy new handles but that's going to run you at least an extra $100. Also, if you wear a watch when you workout it will rub on the cage for certain movements. Still beats spending $1000+ on dumbbells though.

I sympathize, but I do not have an issue with the grip thickness, and I very rarely have an issue with my gigantic 51mm fenix watch.

I will say, I've stopped taking the adder weights in and out, and just leave them in and only do 15,25,35,45,55,65 etc. weight reps. Thankfully, my lifting app (macrofactor workouts) allows me to specify what equipment/weights I have, so it reformulates with my gains without trying to bother me with the 10, 20, 30, etc. weight amounts. I just find taking the outerweights in and out is just a little too much extra work for me. I guess it's really not that bad, but my brain/drive needs as few obstacles as possible.

edit: also, I used first or second generation power blocks starting around 2013, and didn't have a proper stand until I upgraded to the EXP back around 2022, and I very much love having a proper stand.

also, I was able to sell my old school power blocks for more than I originally purchased them for, which leads me to believe these hold their value extremely well in the resale market. at least, if you take care of them as well as I do.

That's the cheapest I've seen the powermax 2.0 stand, nice. Picked one up. Beats the janky table I have set up now hah.

I've seen a Reddit post before where someone was able to remove the adder weight tubes and tape some magnets to 2.5lb cast iron plates to attach to each side of the dumbbell, maybe that could work for you.

How's this stand? For a home gym space is premium, wondering if some kind of cart with storage underneath would be a better choice.

Bought all 3 of these three years back. Used nearly daily. Still look and function like brand new. Great purchase. In my area, I reached a zero-sum from a gym membership after 6 months of use.

A couple years ago I got a pair with both expansion kits from a woot deal. Picked up a stand for cheap a few months later. Overall I uuse it more than my ironmasters. I only make 10 lb jumps because I don't want to deal with the rods and I don't necessarily need to make smaller incremental jumps. For the price at the time I purchased it was a no brainer. $500 for this is still decent as the better adjustables are much more expensive. If you don't mind spending double that and want slightly heavier weight I would go with the Nuobell S 5100. 5-100 lb with one click 5 lb increments. If you need really heavy dumbbells then go with ironmasters with their expansion kits and inner handle add on to go up to 190 lbs each.

The powerblock website looks to have both an EZ curl bar and a straight bar that are compatible. I cannot find the length of the straight bar listed, but I doubt that it is wide enough for a rack or bench.

I always click through to these threads hoping that it is the ELITE USA that are being offered again so that I can pick up stage 3. I've been using mine for three years with no complaints.

have you ever thought to yourself, I cant lift these 2 extra feet off the ground? Well look no further.

Jokes aside they provide a flat specialized surface to change the weights that will probably not break any time soon. Is it worth it? Probably not if you have anything else to put them on that is sturdy and keeps them safe.

Amazing dumbbells. Way better than the twist style FitRX or Cap BowFlex knockoffs. The only other considerations I would make are Eisenlinks, but they're difficult to change weights with, or gamble on the Alibaba Nuobell reps, which cost $400+ and have 0 warranty if anything breaks (they're plastic internals). I would buy the stage 2 upgrade. IIRC, they're going to discontinue this lineup, and there's no guarantee you can buy the expansions later.

I recommend buying the complete set in one go. In time, you'll get stronger and want to expand.

For those getting starting, get this, all 3 stages, and a bench off FB marketplace ($100-200) and you'll be set until you're ready to expand your home gym.
