  • AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS 8C/16T
  • Radeon 780M GPU
  • 32GB DDR5-5600 (up to 256GB)
  • 1TB SSD
  • Windows 11 Pro
  • Wifi 6E
  • Bluetooth 5.2
  • 2x USB3.2 10Gbps (front)
  • 2x USB4 8K@60Hz (back)
  • 2x HDMI2 4K@60Hz (back)
  • 2.5GbE
  • 2x USB2 480Mbps (back)
For R7 + 780M + 1TB + 32GB this seems pretty good. Like I don't think I've seen a comparable spec in the $500s since mid last year.

Specs and price are surprisingly not bad (for today) add the Amazon warranty or it will basically have none.

Waiting for one with oculink. Personally I wouldn't pay more the 500 bucks for this though.

How do you figure?
The cheapest SODIMM DDR5 32GB kit I found is $361
https://www.newegg.com/crucial-32...3T1KV53368
The cheapest 1TB M2 SSD I found is $139
https://www.newegg.com/pny-1tb-cs...6820177155
So it's $500 just in RAM and SSD.
A year ago the SSD was $80 and the RAM was $80 and these things were still $500.

Stop, you're depressing me. Price jumped to $660 a month later so it's back to a meh price.

Seriously, DRAM and NAND has run up so much, it'll take the unitiniated by surprise. This PC was indeed about the best we can find for a 780m equipped CPU.

The cheapest 32GB 5600 SODIMM kit you can get on the secondary market currently runs $225 on ebay, and decent quality used 1TB SSDs continue to be available in the $100-$110 range.

$579-$345 = $234 for an 8745HS equipped mini with Win11 Pro, which is indeed very good at this time. Zen 4 + RDNA 3 is still a solid combo, with only marginal gains to be made going up to much more expensive equivakent Zen 5 / RDNA 4 minis.

Very decent PC. No oculink. But the 8745HS is and 780M is a great combination for some intensive work.

My Acemagic desktops wouldn't connect to home internet but every other device like tablet phone laptop will connect. $100 repair at Microcenter was too much for me why have oculink?

It all looks great..... except that RAM. I'm not talking about the capacity. DDR5-4800? At 4800MT/s, that's 38.4GB/s per module, so assuming 2 modules, that equates to 76.8GB/s total. That is going to HEAVILY bottleneck that iGPU. Even the GMKTec for $10 more on sale that has the 680M iGPU has 6400MT/s modules included (~102.4GB/s through 2 modules), possibly making that one more performant in that aspect.
edit:
Looking more on that store page, it can't seem to decide whether to mention the RAM as 4800 or 5600, which unsettles me even further.

I was about to make a similar comment. I'm far from an expert on this stuff, and I used to show very little interest in memory speeds. But I've learned that two applications that greatly benefit from system memory speeds are gaming and LLMs without a discrete GPU. In either case, you will see a significant performance boost by increasing system memory speeds.

Well this does have a discrete GPU. And I'm sorry but the real-world impact of memory speed is pretty small, particularly when the previous commenter was comparing this to a 680M unit and the performance gain of a 780M will just completely dwarf any such difference anyway.

False, the 780m is an integrated GPU just like the 680m. It is stronger/newer, but with having less bandwidth to work with, it will get bottlenecked harder, resulting in less performance than it is capable of. If these two units used the same RAM with same bandwidth, then this one with the 780m would perform better, but only marginally due to better efficiency of the newer architecture. But a reduction of bandwidth by 25% is massive. Real-world impact of memory speed is small only when you have more than you would ever need. That is not the case here.
