I own this trimmer. It is a beast. 56v is a ton of power. It will run continuously for 45 - 50 minutes on the 2.5 Ah battery. Recharges in under an hour. Cuts through thick shrubs easily. The blade/bar is replaceable if you abuse it too much. The only complaint is that it isn't lightweight. Otherwise, can 100% recommend.

If you really don't need that 2.5Ah battery and don't mind a reconditioned 24" similar model, you can one from Acme Tools for $113.40 shipped with $10 off coupond code: TOOLGUYD

Should note the older model is 2" shorter and has less cut capacity. Also, I'm showing Lowe's has it for $90 right now. POWER+ 56-volt 24-in Battery Hedge Trimmer https://www.lowes.com/pd/EGO-Powe...1003130744

Nice - purchased to upgrade from a 2401. I'd love the 2501 instead with its metal drivetrain versus plastic of the other models, but seems sales are rarer on that model.

Is the ego 56V that much better than the 40V ryobi hedge trimmer. I am tracking this one as the one without the battery is sold out near me. I also have 3 ryobi batteries and no EGO tools.

People largely like Ego tools for the well-designed battery packs - that got them a good reputation early on, and popularity exploded. A good feature they have, for battery health, is that after sitting for a month or so, the battery will discharge itself to a lower SoC to help alleviate degradation. When other brands may lose most of their capacity after a few years, the Ego's self-discharge should make them last upwards of a decade without serious degradation.

The annoying thing is that you may go to use the tool and find that your battery dies quickly, if it sat at a high charge rate for more than a month and self-discharged to save its health. You can manually press the button on the battery to "reset" this timer as long as it's before the 30-days.

Does this work well to trim thin tall grassy shrubs?

I literally came here to say I own this and it's a beast. But here you are, already said it verbatim!I have worked through some massive limbs - at least 1.5-2", somehow.
