Wish this was the Gen 5 pricing, its a bigger jump for gen 5 cause of the software support, much bigger battery, improved display, no overheating issues, & faster charging. Gen 3 was the worst gen for IO, they removed headphone jack and SD card slot. Gen 4 & gen 5 at least brought the sd card slot back

I would definitely get this if I hadn't found out the Gen 5 tablet exists.

Gen 5 is almost double the price of this.

Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 is a compact Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 gaming tablet that stands out for strong performance, a good LCD screen, vapor chamber cooling, and a small form factor that works well for emulation and game streaming. The two USB C ports and gaming profiles make controller setups and fast charging more flexible, and the tablet can be turned into a handheld with accessories like the G9 or Razer Kishi. The main drawbacks are the missing microSD slot, removed headphone jack, and limited Lenovo software update support. It is a solid small tablet if you can live with the storage and software tradeoffs.

If you have gaming PC better to just use that for emulation, or even phone. You can already play a lot retro systems on the 8gen 1 + 8gen2. I'd be surprised if most people buying this type of device don't already have a Galaxy S22 Ultra or equivalent by now. They're ancient tech.
There are multiple reasons for a gaming tablet: (a) It is a bigger screen, (b) it is much better for DS game emulation than a phone, (c) it has better thermals than a phone due to its vapor chamber, and (d) its screen ratio provides a better layout for square and 4:3 games.

No memory card slot killed this as an emulation gaming device! Too bad.

Again, another $300 tablet selling for considerably more.
Y700 Gen 3 isnt a $300 tablet. Its the best priced gaming tablet on the market. S8G3, 12 GB memory, great screen (albeit IPS), 2 USB ports, vapor chamber, UFS 4, etc. It is the cheapest android device on the market with that processor and memory config.

Best gaming tablet is any model of Z13 with a discrete GPU

I'm definitely tempted to pick this up for a small form factor tablet, I'm not interested in the game centric aspect.

been searching for affordable 8" tablet to replace my fire hd since forever. this gen3, the astra oled, gen 5 all expensive in usa. used to get alldocube for ~200 but don't see that anymore on amazon. other tablets are cheap like the lenovo tab one. rumour is oneplus will enter this segment but again with some premium features. sigh

For another $75, you can order the G9 controller off of Aliexpress and turn this into a gaming handheld. It'll emulate everything up to Switch and play a fair number of Windows games as well.
I'm using the Razer Kishi with this very tablet

Is the Z13 the "best priced "? I think not. Thats what I mentioned about the Y700/Tab 3. They are two different things. The Z13 is legendary as an x86 gaming tablet. This is a lightweight 9" ARM/Android device.

For $3 more you can get the Yoga Tab with the same specs and a brighter, higher res, 11" screen. Not as portable but still a great option.

The 11" Yoga Tab is $439.99 from Lenovo, where are you seeing it for $390? Is there a code that bring it to that price?

If the Yoga Tab had an SD card slot, that would tip the scale for me. Do none of this generation of Lenovo tablets come with that?
