I didn't downvote the post, but I can understand their rational.
I wouldn't settle for a DRAM-Less QLC drive even in a time like this. The 4TB SN850X is currently at $599. If you can wait, it should go on sale soon on Amazon's Prime Day.

DRAM-less for TLC is OK, but for QLC it's terrible. System RAM can only hold a small portion of the FTL table and the rest stores on the drive. QLC's random access speed sucks, so if the data is not cached, the performance drops to lower than traditional HDDs. DRAM-less drives also frequently dumping FLT table back to the drive, and please remember QLC wears out 4 times faster than TLC, so durability get a double hit. Poor speed, poor latency, poor durability, so it's a NO NO NO for DRAM-less QLC. DRAM-less TLC is OK though.

Why did someone down vote this? Since the price spiked in them in January, this is the best deal I've seen for them.

Considering the way prices are if I did not have a 2tb on my ps5 already I'd be jumping on this! I see 399$ online , is there a coupon or similar that makes this cheaper instore?

Wait a second. Not a single person has mentioned they bought this drive for $250 or $150 or whatever a few years ago.

I feel like together, the computer part hunters of Slickdeals ... we've finally reached the final stage of grief. Acceptance.

I bought a nvme that's a little better than this for $275 a little more than 3 years ago. This is outrageous!

But seriously, it was the 4tb SN850X and it crapped out on me in 3 years so I'm already not a big fan of WD's nvme

They're hoping if they td then less people will buy it and less gets sold then maybe it will result in them lowering the price.

LOl we're screwed either way

I'm seeking wholesalers and distributors lowering prices. I think in the next few months we will see as much as 50% reduction in cost. Unlikely to see prehype levels again for awhile. But I'm seeing vendors offer inventory for 20% less than it was 3 months ago
That's good to hear, we were just being told that product is still unavailable for 6 week turnaround and quotes are only good for 15 days now.

Because it's not actually a good deal. The price is still massively inflated compared to what these drives sold for before the greed shortage.
It's just a cheaper inflated price.
If you need a 4TB NVMe drive, now is probably the time to buy. If you don't, I'd wait. Storage prices move in cycles, and eventually they'll come back down.

no it's not. i got these for 250 1 year ago and now it's only 350 in this massive shortage. 500 would be too expensive.
