Rubberwood is a solid wood. It's a tree species imported from asia. It's not a bad wood, it's just not as pretty as oak, maple, hickory, etc. it's cheap because rubberwood serves a dual purpose (production of rubber, and then when it gets older, they sell wood for furniture and other uses)

Nice set. This is similar to my set I bought from a local furniture store almost 15 years ago, which I paid $250 for the table and $50 per chair.

I have this exact set that I bought back in 2017. It's holding up pretty well. But, I don't eat on it much. I use it for when I work from home. Great for small apartments. I paid $110 for it. Worth it back then.
