Green balls seems like a bad idea unless I'm missing something.

The neon green ones stand out pretty well. One of the golf websites did an analysis and found that it was the best color for contrast, followed by yellow.

Personally, I like the split colored balls because I find them easier to track in the air.

Normal non-colorblind eyes don't treat all colors the same. Our eyes have a disproportionate ability to detect subtle differences in green than it can for Red/Violet (infrared) or Blue/Violet (ultraviolet). When a green ball falls into the grass, you can spot it several yards away. White/Yellow/Orange is bad because there are too many flowers and folliage with that color. Neon also works well but once again, nothing beats a bright green or bright neon green ball in the summer.
During twilight hours when the sun is about to set, glare make shiny white balls impossible to see, red and orange work well during those times.
