They rarely do count, however there are some GC deals on Lowes cards at other merchants (CVS for example) Buy your Lowes GC's discounted, use them to earn the 3x on the full face value spend of the GC.

Typically it is your first after you activate. Since the bonus offer runs until 6/24, may be best to figure out all the items you're looking to purchase and buy them all at once.

Also, there are a number of deals out there on LOWES GC's to sweeten this. I've posted bonus offers at CVS and Albertson's Chains grocery stores thus far this week.

Merchant reward point system is pointless to shop in particular merchant. You only get back 1% of money you spend on eligible products but you may be paying more in product price than somewhere else.

Not pointless at all if you know what's a good deal or not. and if you're doing a major purchase, like appliances on a good sale, you'd be a fool not to take advantage.

There are some people who don't care about saving money believe it or not and just pay whatever, even for those people may as well get the 3x points at Lowes.
