as previous discussions it would be foolish to spend more than $500 on any Garmin these days

they are not what they used to be and Fenix9 is coming out this year so prices will go down further

Love my fenix 8 titanium/sapphire/amoled. I wanted a running watch, but not one that looks like a running watch or smartwatch that would look silly on dressier occasions. So I got the titanium watchband, too, and while I had expected the combination to look better than an Apple Watch Ultra 3, I was surprised by how much. I just swap bands before such occasions, and it holds up nicely without looking like something a wristwatch bro keeps in a velvet box. It's done wonderfully as a running watch, too.

And the larger 51mm is $850 ... I wear reading glasses, now, so the big screen (bigger font) is totally nice to have when exercising. But, as with most electronics, it is something to pay so much for a watch.....and then in three or four years, it is a dated joke. There was a time when an expensive watch was STILL an expensive watch decades later!
But, these things are amazing.

Bigger screen was also my main reason. If you didn't know (I didn't): "The Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED 47mm and 51mm models feature the exact same screen size: a vibrant 1.4-inch AMOLED display."

Display & Screen DetailsDisplay Size: Both the 47mm and 51mm AMOLED versions boast identical 1.4-inch (35.56 mm) displays with a 454 x 454 pixel resolution.Screen Difference: The extra case size of the 51mm model simply accommodates a chunkier bezel and a larger battery.
