I don't get this model, without a pro chip or better it is essentially a heavier air with a fan. It is like a base F150, looks like it can do serious work but not so much.

Apple does not sell this configuration anymore. The base 14" MacBook Pro M5 is priced $1700 and comes with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD.

I have called Costco nearby and they have 16 available, is this good for someone going to college this year? I need longer battery life, want to last at least 4 years. I think it's the 512gb and 2025 version of the Costco online item 1945139, please comment

For sure, this things will last you for years and handle really anything a college student will throw at it. It's really quite a bit of laptop for $1200, I'd say go for it.

It will last 15 years, the build quality is that good and nowadays improvements are minimal

I never had any MacBooks that could last more than 5 years, there's always issues but mainly the battery failed to charge.

I bought the Macbook Air from ABT for $872 out the door from American Express. The person above mentioned about this being heavy and has the same processor has Macbook Air. I had to get off the freeway ramp and return home. It makes no financial sense to buy this for $1200 when it only has 512GB of space and has a same processor has Macbook Air. Only thing is the 120hz screen but that's about it. If you have bought Macbook Air from ABT earlier, do not purchase this one.

The deal did not show up on the app, nor was it showcased at the store I went to. I called, they said they had 4 in stock. When I went in I couldn't find it. I had to ask someone who worked there, and they grabbed it from the back.
