Community Reviews

This open box LG C5 OLED stands out as a huge discount on a premium gaming TV, especially at the 83 inch size where the price drops far below new. The strongest upside is value if the unit is truly in good or excellent condition, with some open box C5 and other LG OLED purchases arriving well wrapped, complete with stand and remote, and low power on hours. The main risk is condition, since fair units can be scratched, missing parts, or even display models with thousands of hours. Checking power on time and inspecting the exact unit matters most.

Common Questions (5)

Fair condition is the riskiest open-box tier for this TV. It can arrive scratched, missing the stand or remote, or even be a display unit with thousands of hours on it, so inspect it in person and check power-on hours before buying.

Not always. Open-box TVs can come with the stand and remote, but some arrive as the bare TV only, so verify the accessories before purchase if you need a complete setup.

Check the TV's total power-on time before you buy. A unit with 100 hours or less was called a good deal, while OLEDs with much higher hours can be a bad gamble because they may have been heavily used as display models.

Yes, some units are effectively like new, with protective plastic still on the screen and the remote still having its battery slip in place. The condition varies by unit, so it helps to inspect more than one if several are available.

If the unit is truly in good condition, it can be an excellent price for an 83-inch C5, since the larger sizes rise sharply in cost. The deal only makes sense if the panel, hours, and accessories check out.

Honest questions. How do posts like this get repped?
Best Buy is notorious for having one open box deal at one location that one guy got lucky on.

Also, my personal experiences with open box items at my local Best Buys has been horrendous. Unless the item is in horrible condition you can forget about any kind of deep discount.

I bought an Acceptable 65" LG B9 at the beginning of the pandemic for $900 where they would not even let you in the store. You had to pay out front and they brought it out to you after. No box, but it was all wrapped up and came with stand and remote. Had 71 hours on it. Looked and worked perfect.

It's hit or miss from what I hear but I got the hit.

Only the people with bad experiences are posting about them, I get it l. I recently bought a 43 inch TV for my son's dorm that was open box good. I looked at 2 TVs and 1 was a bad panel and the other one was brand new with plastic still covering the screen and the remote still had the battery slip in it.
I also bought the Sony Theater Bar 8 for $350 open box fair. It has a slight rip about 1/4 inch on top of the bars speaker fabric otherwise looks and works perfectly.
That's why I say especially if there are several available inspect 1 or 2 of them.

If this is actually found and on good condition this is the best deal I've seen on this site. This is 65" price for a C5 and it gets dramatically more expensive with each screen size increase

Dude 65" has been $999 at LG Partner store. This is not a good deal. Open Box TVs especially OLEDs are absolutely horrible at Best Buy

I've bought plenty of open box TVs from bestbuy, never a issue. Smart people look at the product for its condition before purchasing

Better check those hours. LEDs maybe OK with open box. OLEDs no way in hell. They blast them on 100 12brs a day

You are talking buying cheap dorm TVs as open box and other cheap items. Not an issue. Not an $1500 OLED that who knows how many hours is on it.

Wasn't an option to purchase online, just showed 1 in stock at local store, too, with it being open box definitely wanted to see what "good" was

I've never seen it not be an option to purchase a open box tv online at Bestbuy.
