Got one of these refurb from Woot for $99. Works well. Simple but planning out 24 hours in advance sucks. Doesn't make very much. If you have more than 1-2 people to serve you'll want to buy extra containers to have frozen and ready especially if you want a choice of flavors.
Takes 5 minutes or less for machine to turn solid block of ingredients into to something delicious. Buying ice cream from store much simpler but this way I know exactly what is in it. Even made one half milk half water that my dogs enjoyed as a cold treat. Yes it's a gimmick appliance but does the job well. Takes up a fair amount of counter space and is a bit on the loud side running but that's only for a few minutes. Easy cleanup is a plus. Enjoy!

my MIL got one last year, loved it, and then stopped using it - i take it she was making he high calorie proper ice creams and needed to go on a diet.
I got hers last week to borrow - my wife and i drink a lot of smoothies, and im doing protein smoothies that are like 300/350 cal each i think. we love this thing. its big and a bit loud.
starting 24 hours ahead sucks IF you only have a couple containers. the MIL had 8. so im just whisking or blending a couple batches of shakes at a time and freezing 4-6 every couple of days. that makes the 24 hour wait no big deal. of course, it uses a fair amount of freezer space but whatever.
heres my blueberry one -
8oz 2% milk, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 2 tsp lemon juice, 2 tbl monkfruit sugar, 1 tbl chia seeds, 1/4 tsp xantham gum, a heavy pinch of salt, 100g blueberries. just dump in the container and stir it a little bit then freeze it. boom, mid calorie protein ice cream for breakfast. its great.

What's the better deal? This one from Costco @ $150 or the one from Sam's club for $140?

Costco more settings and more importantly larger 24 ounce containers versus 16. If counter space is tight than the smaller one may be better option. If just want to make one container then the larger container Costco ones if for more than one person unless made different flavors for each. Think what used to be called half gallon cartons of ice cream are now usually about 48 ounces.
