Bosch's 12 inch Glide miter saw stands out for its smooth sliding action, compact footprint, and strong cutting performance for woodworking and DIY use. The forward arm design lets it sit closer to a wall than many slider saws, and the saw is praised as accurate once adjusted square. The main drawbacks are its hefty 88.2 pound weight and the lack of a built in laser or shadow line, though aftermarket kits are available. The grip and trigger also feel chunky for some hands, making it a capable but bulky shop tool.
Common Questions (6)
It does not include a built-in laser or shadow line/cut line illuminator. Aftermarket shadow-line or cut-line kits are available for under $50, and one newer-model video shows a shadow line on the updated saw.
The current model is widely regarded as a strong buy for hobbyist and homeowner use, and the newer version is rumored to cost about $600. The older model is also preferred by some because the bevel adjustment is on the front instead of the back.
No, the Bosch's forward-arm glide design does not need empty space behind the saw for slider bars. That makes it take up less floor space and lets it sit closer to a wall than many other sliding miter saws.
Yes, it is very heavy at about 88.2 lbs. That weight makes it a beast to move around, even compared with 10-inch saws.
Yes, it can be adjusted easily to cut square, and like most miter saws it may need a simple out-of-box tune-up. Periodic cleaning and oiling also help it stay smooth over time.
The grip and trigger are chunky, and the trigger safety slide can pinch your hand. That is the main ergonomic complaint, even though the saw itself is otherwise well liked.

Beware - this is a monster of a saw. The 10" already weighs a ton. Edit: Ooof I wasn't kidding. Just saw that this...saw...weighs 88.2 lbs!

Add the Shop Nation aftermarket dust collection kit and spend some time to make sure your saw is properly adjusted to cut square. Most saws (of all brands) require some simple adjustment out of the box. It's easy to do on the Bosch.
