Bosch's 12 inch Glide miter saw stands out for its smooth sliding action, compact footprint, and strong cutting performance for woodworking and DIY use. The forward arm design lets it sit closer to a wall than many slider saws, and the saw is praised as accurate once adjusted square. The main drawbacks are its hefty 88.2 pound weight and the lack of a built in laser or shadow line, though aftermarket kits are available. The grip and trigger also feel chunky for some hands, making it a capable but bulky shop tool.

I have used Dewalt and this Bosch. For the money, I love my Metabo HPT 12" Miter Saw (C12RSH3M). The sliding mechanism is ideal for anyone who wants this on a bench and wants to have their saw placed close to the back wall. It also has shadow line cutting which I find to be very accurate and precise. As for precision, I did have to make one slight adjustment out of the box. For a DIY and hobbyist, the Metabo can compete with Bosch and Dewalt.
Saw is currently $399 @ Menards plus a 11% Store Credit Rebate.

no issue with the sliding mechanism being rough? That was the common complaint

I paid slightly more for the 10" in Nov'24 and wasn't mad about it. Now I wish I had waited!

Beware - this is a monster of a saw. The 10" already weighs a ton. Edit: Ooof I wasn't kidding. Just saw that this...saw...weighs 88.2 lbs!

Also, Amazon will typically lower their price to the same as Lowe's when they find out about the sale. That was how I got mine...first I ordered it from Lowe's... in stock, out-of-stock, backordered... too many shenanigans. Then I checked Amazon and it was the same price as Lowe's so I bought it from Amazon and canceled the Lowe's order. Obviously YMMV but keep this in mind if you run into stock problems with a Lowe's order.

Really torn. I've wanted this saw for a long time and have a need for it this month - but the new model releasing new month and rumored to cost ~$600 has me tempted to wait. Or maybe it's junk and I'd be better off sticking with what isn't broken...
The new model doesn't add any line (laser/shadow) that I see, and the bevel adjustment has been moved to the back. I really like it being on the front, so I would consider the old one better in certain ways.

Went to Lowes to check it. FYI, this beast is heavy like your cuz that eats hos hos. Also, no shadow line, so keeping my Dewalt 12" Battery power I got at Lowes for 450. Not fan of the double barrel slide rods though, cause sits further from wall compared to the Bosch that has forward arm.

I've got the 10" version of this. Very nice saw. I think my only complaint is the fact that the grip/trigger is pretty chunky, even with average/bigger sized hands.. and I suppose maybe the fact that it doesn't come with a cut line illuminator - that would be nice.
Completely agree with the grip/trigger. Picked up the 12" version on the last Lowe's sale and absolutely love the saw but the trigger safety slides pinches the crap out of my hand.

Appreciate the recommendation, Lowes HAD it on sale for $250! Looks like OOS though.

Great saw at a great price. I'd 100% pull the trigger on this if you need a miter saw.

Add the Shop Nation aftermarket dust collection kit and spend some time to make sure your saw is properly adjusted to cut square. Most saws (of all brands) require some simple adjustment out of the box. It's easy to do on the Bosch.
