Once you see the price for luggage on Japan, you realize how overpriced our cheap luggage is here.

Transporting bulky items across an entire ocean is expensive . Shipping containers pricing is more by volume vs weight...and hollow luggage is a pretty poor usage of said space.

(not to mention, then parcel shipping them again to the final customer)

This deal literally says "Made in USA."

Even worse, now you are comparing American wages vs wages (and pricing) set by Asian made items...sold overseas.

Why does this American made item cost more than something made in a sweat shop then sold in flea market 3 minutes from the factory....help me understand.

And you still need to (and I repeat)...parcel ship them again to the final customer. For such a bulky item only costing $100, that could easily be $15-20 on this $100 item (especially because Costco ships 'free'). Your Japan street vendor pricing (likely from a trip you took a decade ago) seems to hardly apply on so many levels.

Not to mention, "Made in the USA?" From a company called iPack, which appears to be just a rebranding of a generic luggage. Then iPack's parent company is "Olivet International....a leading global supplier." Forgive me if I'm a little skeptical that this product is manufactured in the US. Reminds me of the old days when Walmart made a similar claim. It turned out they were just throwing Chinese items inside boxes once they arrived on the slow boat. That boxing counted as "mAdE iN tHe UsA" according to the Walton family.
