You can reverse that downvote too you know. You posted misinfo within seconds of that downvote.

Keeping downvotes on info you later realize was correct, spreads misinfo to others. And if you didn't down, someone else may have.

I upvote when I post a retraction.

Isn't there custom roms for it?
No because of MediaTek. MediaTek is a serial GPL violator, making support very difficult.

The community focuses on Qualcomm and Tensor phones. Even Exnyos complies more than MediaTek.

Pretty good price for the phone, but, sadly... due to Moto's update policy, this thing is due to lose security updates in about ~6-7 months or so. I was going to grab it the other day even at the regular $129 price it was the other day, but ended up going down the rabbit hole of factory unlocked phone hunting and scored a galaxy a36 5g factory unlocked from a pawn shop for ~$174 with many more years of updates. Been a bit of an experience getting used to android again after daily driving an iphone se 2nd gen then a 3rd gen gotten cheap for the past ~4.5 years, but I'm getting used to it again. I daily drove the LG flagship V35 for a long time, then got a G8 cheap 2nd hand that the seller lied claiming it was factory unlocked but it was really tmo gsm unlocked, thus not working with my verizon based carrier at the time when the whole VoLTE required thing passed years ago, they offered me the se 2nd gen for a whopping 50 bucks and off to the walled garden i went... for my uses, not a lot of irl differences, but, man.... after the 2 year mark the smaller iphone batteries at least seem to really get eroded.

Be prepared to just have this as a wifi tablet or something just for browsing youtube when the security updates end somewhat soon. Shame since the thing has 8gb ram, but, not worth the possible financial risk using an unsecured device come next year

Sucks that Moto's update policy is so poor, someone can have their life ruined using an unsecure device, thus stuff like this just ends up contributing to e-waste

Are no security updates really that risky? What exactly is the mechanism in which someone would get into your phone?

It's not only about it, some apps will require the latest security updates in order to run.

Just received the phone but took out the box with very strong chemical smell, typically at the back of phone! Anybody had same experience with new phone in hand?
