I don't think the Express cards ever went down to $30-35 on sale.

The normal microSDXC cards do dip down to that level though.

Prices will probably drop eventually. It's just that we don't know how long this bubble is going to last. Also, it's possible prices won't fall to as low as they used to be. I remember getting 512GB microSD for $20-25 before COVID.

Very good price. Anyone who needs it now should get it or wait for the 512 GB version to go for $75 during the Amazon Prime Day.Edit: Actually I take that back, the 512 GB version is now up $196. When I got mine on Nov of 2025, it was $75. Glad I bought mine before the memory shortage.
It's crazy! I bought a Samsung PRO Plus 1GB uSD card in July of last year for $70, now it's $300!

Yes. Switch 2 is its primary use for most buyers.

No kidding. I bought the TEAMGROUP CL30 DDR5 32GB Kit for $86.99 on January 24, 2025. A year and a half later, it's now $449.99, what is the world coming to?

Imagine how miserable your life would have to be if you can only afford one console so you build your entire personality around hating the other ones.
With the price hikes and state of the world thats the reality for a lot of people.
We are commenting on a "deal" thread forna 256gb card for $40, a card twice this size was cheaper a couple of years ago.

That's 256GB, not 512GB microSD Express though. I don't think the 512GB microSD Express ever dipped down to $30-35.

To clarify, I wasn't badmouthing the "can't afford" part. It sucks. I get it. We are all in the same boat there. I was commenting on the "I hate all consoles other than the one I own" type of personality.

As far as this deal goes, it is what it is. For today's pricing, I grabbed it. I also remember the time we could have gotten much more for much less, but that's far away from happening again. Hopefully some day we'll be back to normal.

Because you don't need to pay extra for an *express card* that your HW can't even utilize
You're correct but prices are so screwed atm that this is actually cheaper than your regular 256gb microsd card lol
