It's a good deal but don't expect batteries to last that long. I've had my mower 3 years now and the original battery doesn't last through the front yard most of the time now even though I baby it (wait for cool down to recharge, don't leave in garage, etc.). I bought a couple knock-off batteries from Ebay that help me get through but those are junky as well. I only have a 1/3 acre so I don't sweat it but if I had a large yard it would suck. The batteries are the biggest drawback on these Ego mowers. The technology is still not there unless you can swap frequently with a low cost (which you cannot).
I don't have this particular model, but I bought the non-propelled version of this 7 years ago and it's still running strong. same blades, same battery. I also have their leaf blower and string trimmer, plus 2 additional batteries. no complaints or issues so far. really good value, at this price
EGO's 21 inch 56V self propelled mower stands out for easy handling, quiet button start operation, and strong cut quality, with Touch Drive making larger yards and slight inclines easier. The two 4Ah batteries and rapid charger add real value, and the batteries are enough for many residential lawns, with some reports of half acre or more on a charge. The main cautions are weight, around 71 pounds with batteries, and battery runtime dropping faster in thick grass or when using self propel. It feels like a solid cordless setup if convenience matters more than gas mower lightness.
EGO tool owners building a battery ecosystem, because the included 4Ah packs are useful across blowers, trimmers, and other compatible tools.
Homeowners with larger yards or slight inclines, because the self-propelled drive and 56V power make mowing easier and the included batteries cover most residential lawns.
Buyers wanting a quieter, low-maintenance cordless mower, because it starts with a button, skips fuel and oil changes, and runs noticeably quieter than gas.
Yes, the platform has strong long-term reports, with multiple owners saying their mowers and batteries are still working after 5 to 10 years. The main recurring drawback is battery wear over time, especially for larger yards.
They're enough for most residential lawns and can handle about a half acre or more on flat ground, but runtime drops fast with self-propel, thick Bermuda, or tall grass. For larger or heavier lawns, 4Ah batteries may need swapping or recharging mid-job.
It weighs about 61.4 lbs without batteries and about 71 lbs with both batteries installed. Several owners describe it as heavier than expected, so it's not a lightweight battery mower.
No. This model uses a single Gator mulching blade, while Select Cut is the dual-blade system found on higher EGO models. The single-blade setup still cuts well and can be used with side discharge.
Get the automatic mower on sale right now for prime Day for ~600 .. If your yard is not too big it is a huge lifesaver.. If your yard is not crazy uneven or sloped..
I would call this a slickdeal. I got my Ego mower 10 years ago. Back then it was just a push mower, 4amp battery, fast charger. And it was like $410 for that, with a discount when my military friend helped me out. I love my Ego mower. I definitely recommend them.
4AH batteries drain fast when mowing. I use 1 10AH all the way and if grass was tall at all My 5Ah gets drained in one mowBe on the lookout for a 10AH one day
How big of a lawn are you mowing? Will these batts last for a 5000 sqft? The grass is pretty tall and we dont mow too deep.

my 7.5Ah works hard on two lawns a week (1hr) for several seasons, and is already awkward to handle, it wouldn't be suitable for handhelds. Even my two 5Ah seem heavy on my handhelds so hoping this 4Ah hits the sweet spot. I Dual wield TWO blowers on 2.5Ah but have to swap more often.
you sure about that? granted I have a 1000 series, but my mower can't do my 1/3 acre bermuda lawn with a single 10Ah (and that's w/o using self propel). Also folks might be disappointed with the non-select cut models if they're used to a good gas mower. That said, I do like my mower. I don't think the mower + battery is really 71 lbs, that might be shipping weight for everything? it's way lighter than my steel deck makita mower is/was. Also feels more powerful.

That's bizarre. I'm using my same batteries from 7 years ago. And my first dead battery was from a mower I bought used from a local swap site, and that battery was 9 years old and I don't know how they cared for it.
I love my Ego stuff.

Would this deal be better than the one with 2x 5.0ah battery for $499?
I don't know... based on what I've read, this should be fine for my yard. Plus my wife just retired from teaching, and was gifted several Amazon gift cards I used, so my net price was about $220. So to us, this was a great deal!

I almost gave up but it's still alive for the faithful... mine is to be delivered this Sunday.. Pretty much already assembled in box.
This is my firs 4Ah battery so I can't compare it with others.. I am not expecting a lot out of it since I use the drive all the time.. rarely disengage. Mostly I wanted the 4Ah for my handhelds and see how the trimmer goes, even the 5Ah throws off the balance. Some of my batteries are going on 5yrs, probably because I have 8 of them to swap out.
I have one 7.5Ah that is still going strong after 4yrs on my old LM2130SP I got from Lowes. I also have TWO 5Ah that work well on mowers and blowers. Some neighborhoods are banning gas blowers and I can't blame them.
That 2x 5Ah deal is pretty sweet, basically $200 less than I paid for 1x 7.5Ah 4yrs ago. Thing is I can usually recover the cost pretty easily just working part time. I'd like to see more kids put down the phone and pickup up some tools.

Also we hare having a little blade discussion here, different blades and using drive will drain the battery faster. https://slickdeals.net/f/19648683-21-ego-power-electric-lawn-mower-high-lift-blade-18?v=1
Trick is mowing weekly under dry conditions which is tough to do in the PNW.
