I have this baseus one which has worked decent for me but checking to see how much of an upgrade it'd be
I own both Shokz and a few other brands, including Baseus. While Baseus has come a long way in terms of sound quality and comfort, it's still not on the same level as Shokz. I recently picked up a second pair of Shokz, and I can confidently say they're the most comfortable headphones I've used so far.
Also, keep in mind that the Shokz OpenDots 2 were just released. They're supposed to offer improved sound quality, so you can probably expect the price of the original OpenDots (Dots One) to come down soon.

I picked up some open box Dots and compared to the Baseus Bass BC1. Only reason I bought the BC1 was after promo code(s) they reduced the cost of the new Bowie MC2 to $45. The MC2 won't arrive until Monday but the BC1 sounded like a $15 pair of clip ons, lol, which is what I paid. They will be going back but at least they saved me $5 if I keep the MC2. The Dots are amazing, at least for a clip on, not as good as my openfit 2, but I get why they are so popular.
FWIW, the open box Dots are now $88 (excellent) BUT they are available for shipping which sometimes translates to new in box, just a way to clear them out at unofficial prices. The ones I picked up were store displays, so may just reorder and see if the shipped "open box" are new in box.

Okay, just following up on the comparison to the MC2 Bowie, latest version (not the air). Out of the box the MC2 have more bass, but the Dots have more clarity. I find the Dots more comfortable. I haven't messed around with EQ adjustments, just comparing both out of the box. If you only want to spend $50, the MC2 are quite good, but if you're looking for more clarity albeit at twice the price, the Dots may be worth the upgrade.
Edit: after firmware update and playing around with different EQ settings on the MC2, I'm not sure the Dots have better clarity. The Dots do feel higher quality, the gestures are easier, I don't find it easy to press the buttons on the MC2, and even more so to hold, it's kind of clunky, but sound wise I'd say they're pretty close. I may end up just keeping the MC2.
Update 7/6/2026: Price drop alert! These are now $68 (open box excellent) and available for shipping. I'll start a new thread since this one is marked as dead.
