I thought GE was a more reliable brand so I got this fridge from HD 3 years ago, compressor went out in about 30 months, warranty is only 12 months, they wanted about $1000 to fix it, fridge looks brand new but I guess is now going to the landfill.

Same here. My fridge lasted longer about three years but the compressor went out and also was about a $1k fix.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm looking to replace my Kenmore made by LG that.... you guessed it. The compressor went out and it's not under warranty. $1,200+ to replace.

My LG recently went out after 23 years. The ice maker quit early on, but I got lucky on fridge durability otherwise. I replaced with another LG given my prior experience, but who knows how long to expect these days. I made sure to get a Smart compressor model, and not the Linear compressor.
