Very very limited experience with the Atom 2 which is basically the same drone but a better camera system. For my very basic use I would have gone with this had I researched more. It's a tiny drone (fit in your hand) which is great for storage and mobility but it does struggle in wind over say 7mph to stay still but flying seems mostly okay. It doesn't have accident avoidance which depending on your skill level would be a nice feature to have.

Are we gonna try and pretend that the chinese haven't been the undisputed leaders in drone technology for almost as long as the technology has existed?

Knockoff actually has a meaning! It's a product the intentionally tries to ply on the reputation of a different brand. What it does not mean, is just another product in a category.

Also I and many others have found the Chinese sites to be extremely reliable and well run. Saved a bunch over Amazon or EBay on the same product

This or the recent ~$205+tax deal on eBay for potensic atom 2, 3 batteries & case?? Is the camera that much of an upgrade / better? The batteries I imagine will be very helpful & may justify the cost on their own so I'm definitely leaning towards the atom 2, but just checking if anyone has real world experience. Also the SD post showed that eBay deal for atom 2 as expired but I was able to get in on it yesterday (promo code might have changed for July)

The biggest differences between those two models are the range (4km vs 10km) and gimbal (single axis vs 3-axis). Atom 2 is a huge upgrade, and if you got it for $205 that's a great deal.

EDIT: I checked out that deal... It's a refurbished model. Still not a bad deal though.
