Very very limited experience with the Atom 2 which is basically the same drone but a better camera system. For my very basic use I would have gone with this had I researched more. It's a tiny drone (fit in your hand) which is great for storage and mobility but it does struggle in wind over say 7mph to stay still but flying seems mostly okay. It doesn't have accident avoidance which depending on your skill level would be a nice feature to have.

Are we gonna try and pretend that the chinese haven't been the undisputed leaders in drone technology for almost as long as the technology has existed?

Knockoff actually has a meaning! It's a product the intentionally tries to ply on the reputation of a different brand. What it does not mean, is just another product in a category.

Also I and many others have found the Chinese sites to be extremely reliable and well run. Saved a bunch over Amazon or EBay on the same product
