not even remotely a good deal

you are way better off getting the two power stack batteries for the same price.

I wish it was as simple as this, but when you were looking at low amp hour usage the power stack batteries are better in every way of what you would use these batteries for, more power, more output for similar amp hours, no drop off in power output near the end of the charge and doing this being much lighter with a much smaller profile.

If there is a benefit with the XR baterries, thena 5 or 6ah battery should be used anyway.

Not to mention that this is just been the standard price for this two pack for the last 90 days if you look at the price history. The price is not particularly special.

As an owner of most of the flavors of DeWalt batteries available, you are mistaken.

Powerstack (1.7 Ah), when you want light weight and smaller size. Impact drivers and wrenches along with compact drill/drivers is where they shine for that burst of power and short runtime. OMT, palm sander, hammer drill, compact saw, rotary hammer, chain saw, or anything similar, the lower capacity and current availability vs the 3Ah battery comes up short.

If you must choose one or the other, get a 3 Ah instead of a Powerstack (1.7) and work on your upper body strength to compensate.

May not be the best AH/$ deal, but i really like this particular battery for my hand tools.. drills, impacts, jigsaw etc. Good balance of ergs and runtime imo.

So the better answer is to pay $13 per ah for old technology and "work out" to make up for a battery that doesn't give the appropriate power needed when a 5ah or 6ah can be be bought for <$10/ah when it is really a deal.

Not to mention you're suggesting using the 3ah on a chainsaw.... lol fantasy land.

not that i would ever follow dewalt over SD/reddit, but you win Smilie
i personally would go 1.7ah, 3.5ps/4pp, or 5ah non-ps in whatever combo you prefer.

LOLOLOL the pruner.. the one you use for that burst of power and short runtime! In you're own words that's exactly where it shines.... so you get constant power without wind down for even cutting and no catching. Thanks for the you got me moment to prove me right.
