you are way better off getting the two power stack batteries for the same price.

If there is a benefit with the XR baterries, thena 5 or 6ah battery should be used anyway.
Not to mention that this is just been the standard price for this two pack for the last 90 days if you look at the price history. The price is not particularly special.
Powerstack (1.7 Ah), when you want light weight and smaller size. Impact drivers and wrenches along with compact drill/drivers is where they shine for that burst of power and short runtime. OMT, palm sander, hammer drill, compact saw, rotary hammer, chain saw, or anything similar, the lower capacity and current availability vs the 3Ah battery comes up short.
If you must choose one or the other, get a 3 Ah instead of a Powerstack (1.7) and work on your upper body strength to compensate.

As an owner of most of the flavors of DeWalt batteries available, you are mistaken.

i personally would go 1.7ah, 3.5ps/4pp, or 5ah non-ps in whatever combo you prefer.
