The Galaxy S22+ is a compact flagship that still has useful performance, a good screen, DeX, and USB C video out, which makes it handy for travel media, light desktop use, or even retro gaming. Battery life is the biggest strength and weakness split in the comments, ranging from a solid day or more to very short runtimes, with fast charging helping some setups. Heat, freezing, antenna problems, and screen burn in or green screen concerns also come up, and the refurbished listing appears to offer no warranty. It looks best for buyers who want the hardware features and can live with the risk on condition and longevity.

Common Questions (5)

  • Battery life is often reported as a weak point: some say it lasts a full day or more with light use, while others say it won't make it through the day and can die in under 4 hours. Fast charging helps, but heavy use and heat can make the battery feel much worse.

  • Yes, overheating and performance issues are a recurring concern, especially with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and in hot weather or gaming. Reports include freezing, lag, and the phone running hot enough to become unusable, though some users say their units have been fine for normal use.

  • Android updates are expected through early 2027, with Google Play Store security patches continuing for years after that. That means the phone should stay usable for mainstream apps, but it is near the end of its major update window.

  • Several comments say these eBay "refurbished" units are effectively used phones unless the seller clearly lists actual repairs or replaced parts. The practical warning is to expect a basic wipe/reset and condition that can range from lightly used to heavily worn, with accessories possibly third-party.

  • The listing explicitly says the phones have moderate scratches/scuffs and screen burn-in, so burn-in is part of the described condition rather than just a possibility. That makes it a risky buy if you want a backup phone or care about display defects.

Probably the worst phone I've ever owned. I would stay away from this phone, major performance and overheating issues.
Was this the one with the battery life issue? Didn't s23 improve by leaps and bounds?

Even with reputable sellers on Ebay, it's a very subjected matter. I have returned a phone in "Excellent" condition dues to dead pixels and kept one "Very Good" because it was almost perfect, except for some blemishes on side and back which got covered by the phone case.
At least at this cost getting equal credit back thru a trade-in wouldn't be too difficult(performance opinions on the s22 aside)

this was my main phone for many years, its pretty good. battery life is a little weaker but not awful as others are describing. ultra high speed charging makes it a nonissue.

Same here, S22 Ultra was the worse phone I ever owned. Antennas went kaput in little over a year. I replaced them and in six months same problem again. Done with Samsung, bought a Pixel.
I couldn't go with pixel after much consideration I ended up getting S25Ultra, which was a night and day compared to S22 Ultra, happy so far, except they really need to round the edges a bit, one thing I like with iPhones, they are so comfortable to hold without case, vs Samsung's ultra line just cramps up my hands, can't imagine how much worse it is with smaller ones like Plus or Base.

Pixel 10 pro is a nice phone, though, just perfect size for day to day, I am not sold on the vanilla android, though.

I have been using this phone on AT&T since it's release and have had no issues. That being said it doesn't get heavy use.

Same here, going on 4 years of ownership and still going strong. I did keep mine locked in on android 13 though, since its the most stable on this hardware in terms of performance to battery ratio IMO. Others in my circle that upgraded to the latest FW are indeed experiencing intermittent issues and much shorter battery life. Nonetheless, I'm holding on to mine until it dies.

It's worse to buy cheap junk than not buying anything.
So you'd rather have no phone than a "cheap junk" phone? Millions of poor consumers, especially in developing countries, disagree with you.

Still a decent phone and receiving updates. I have one that's still going on it's original battery as a spare music/video player. It was never a multi day workhorse but also never died on me so the battery life is acceptable.

cheap junk is different from cheap.

Also bear in mind this is slickdeals which targets US consumers. Don't bring irrelevant stuff into discussion.

This is by far the worst phone I've ever had. It lags when hot and I mean barely hot. Out in this summer heat it just freezes. I tried rebooting everything and same thing happens. Even my s20 was outperforming it. When I moved up to the s26 ultra. Night ans day difference. To be expected but still my s20 was outperforming this s22+ garbage. It only makes sense if you are buying to trade it in.
Weird. I went from an s21u to a s25u. no major problems. I guess I skipped the problem era? I've also used pixel, apple, a series samsung, for reference

The regular Samsung Galaxy S22 is widely considered to have one of the weakest battery performances of the modern Galaxy lineup, often averaging just 3 to 5 hours of screen-on time. This poor performance is primarily due to three factors:Small Capacity: To maintain a compact and elegant design, Samsung packed a small 3,700mAh battery into the device.Inefficient Processor: The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (or Exynos 2200) chipsets are notably power-hungry, leading to rapid drain even during general daily tasks.Display Draw: Running the 120Hz display and 5G connections places a heavy demand on this specific model.Because this is a hardware limitation, you cannot completely fix it, but you can stretch your battery life further by applying a few tweaks.
