Community Reviews

This OmniBook 3 17.3 inch laptop stands out mainly for its large screen and efficient Core Ultra 7 platform, which should help with battery life and everyday use. The 16 gigabytes of memory and 512 gigabyte SSD give it a solid baseline for general productivity. The display is a weak point, with 62.5 percent sRGB coverage and a 1920 by 1080 resolution that feels low for a 17 inch panel. It also has no dedicated graphics card, soldered memory, and repeated hinge concerns, so it is better suited to basic work than gaming or heavy upgrades.

Sitting having lunch about a mile away from a Best Buy that has them in stock. Will this do light gaming?
NO.

You really should be looking for a 7840HS or a 8745HS or a 8845HS or a Ryzen 255 and there are a few others and they all have the 780m as the GPU. THIS is what you should be looking for if you want to also light game... such as Baulder Gate 3 at mid settings.

My son is starting college this fall - school of business for actuarial science. Is this a good laptop for college classes? If not, can anyone direct me to an appropriate laptop? I'm clueless with this stuff…
This is what you need to find out....
1. What is your budget (always go with the best bang for the buck)
2. What size laptop does he want. Most people I know in University want a 14" laptop.

Also, this laptop is WEAK and can not play games. What this laptop excels at is that it is super efficient. If the same size battery is used in this laptop vers others... this laptop could last like 50% longer on battery mode.

This is what I would recommend BUT realize a few things... I purchased this for less then $400 about 2 years ago and now it is selling for $600. And this is not on sale right now. But it has a much faster CPU and decent GPU that can play games BUT many people claim they laptop breaks at the hinge, read up about it.

This is just an idea.

Actually, I suggest buying the "AMD Ryzen AI 7 350" laptop. That is the CPU in the laptop. You can find a used or refurbished model.. I that is what I would look for, if I was buying it for myself.

So go to EBAY and search "AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 LAPTOP".

I use a website called Notebookcheck to compare the CPU of different models... this will tell you how much faster one model is then the other. AND lets compare the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 to this Ultra 7. NotebookCheck says the Ryzen AI 7 350 is 37% faster.

I find it offensive they don't say if the ram is socketed or soldered. This one is soldered so I'll pass because I value upgradeability, but it is a retarded sales tactic to withhold information from the buyers. Now HP are stuck with bunch of cheap laptops with soldered ram that no one wants to buy and are slowly releasing the inventory on the market, while upselling the socketed ones on their website.
