100%.... $840 for a thin phone with a gimped camera, gimped battery, gimped speakers and gimped thermals? Apple cutting its production from lack of consumer interest tells you everything you need to know.
The iPhone Air stands out as a very thin, light unlocked iPhone with a big screen, strong battery life for its size, and a premium feel. The design gets the most praise, along with durability and day to day comfort, and the 12 gigabyte memory is tied to full Siri AI support in one comment. The main trade offs are the single camera, weaker speakers, and thinner chassis limits on thermals and audio. Marketplace seller listings and cheaper refurb or open box options around the mid 600s to 800s are also part of the discussion, making this a niche pick for thinness first.
Travelers who want a slim phone for daily carry, because it feels easy to hold and still has battery life that holds up well.
Heavy readers and media viewers who want a large screen in a light handset, because it feels much bigger than older iPhones without adding much weight.
It can be a reasonable unlocked buy if you want this model now, especially with comments expecting Apple prices to rise soon. But there are cheaper alternatives mentioned, including refurb and open-box units around $645-$800.
Yes, it can be solid for daily use. Several comments describe the battery as decent or comparable to smaller iPhones up through the 17, and one long-term user says it lasts well enough to charge nightly.
They can be fine for casual use, but the thin design limits audio hardware. One comment says the speakers crackle at medium-to-max volume on many contents, while another says the speaker is a non-issue for everyday use.
Which model and where? My son loves Motorola phones
moto g power 5G - 2024 new old stock is 129 on website. Unlocked can be used any network, plus sd card storage. Setup battery saver and have a phone for four days without charging. Witha 5000mAh battery
I've had air for a year. Since I got it free with ATT 36-month plan I use no screen protecter and a mous carbon fibre case for grip/protection. Best iphone since the 4s. You will never go back to a heavy iphone. The battery life, camera and speaker do the job and I use airpods and charge every night.

Unlocked buyers who want a new iPhone now, because the price is seen as worthwhile before expected Apple price increases.
Power users who want Apple intelligence features under $1000, because the Air's 12GB RAM is tied to full Siri AI capabilities.
Mobile photographers who rely on multiple lenses, because the Air has a single camera and no extra zoom options.
People who listen at high volume without headphones, because the speaker can crackle and the thin chassis limits audio hardware.

Shoppers who want a fully featured flagship feel, because the design trades off camera, battery, speakers, and thermals.

Also I would not wait for iPhone 18 if you are buying unlocked. Carriers will subsidize anyway but unlocked ones you are likely to pay 200+ more.
Thank you.
