100%.... $840 for a thin phone with a gimped camera, gimped battery, gimped speakers and gimped thermals? Apple cutting its production from lack of consumer interest tells you everything you need to know.
The iPhone Air stands out as a very thin, light unlocked iPhone with a big screen, strong battery life for its size, and a premium feel. The design gets the most praise, along with durability and day to day comfort, and the 12 gigabyte memory is tied to full Siri AI support in one comment. The main trade offs are the single camera, weaker speakers, and thinner chassis limits on thermals and audio. Marketplace seller listings and cheaper refurb or open box options around the mid 600s to 800s are also part of the discussion, making this a niche pick for thinness first.
Travelers who want a slim phone for daily carry, because it feels easy to hold and still has battery life that holds up well.
Heavy readers and media viewers who want a large screen in a light handset, because it feels much bigger than older iPhones without adding much weight.
It can be a reasonable unlocked buy if you want this model now, especially with comments expecting Apple prices to rise soon. But there are cheaper alternatives mentioned, including refurb and open-box units around $645-$800.
Yes, it can be solid for daily use. Several comments describe the battery as decent or comparable to smaller iPhones up through the 17, and one long-term user says it lasts well enough to charge nightly.
They can be fine for casual use, but the thin design limits audio hardware. One comment says the speakers crackle at medium-to-max volume on many contents, while another says the speaker is a non-issue for everyday use.
The iPhone Air doesn't have great speakers. At medium to max volume, it crackles on a lot of content. Probably because it has 1 speaker vs 2 that's trying to do too much

Why would it? Thin chassis affects acoustics and the audio hardware that can fit. The main goal of this phone is thinness and they achieved that. For audio you have to look at the pro models. This is like a Frankenstein phone, one camera like an SE…

Scored an open box 1TB for $929, and it was essentially brand new with nearly an entire year of warranty left on it. And I feel like that was a STEAL due to the impending price increase on the horizon...
Side note, I fully believe the Air is the best overall iPhone now. As it's (currently) the only iPhone under $1000 with full Siri AI capabilities due to its 12GB of RAM. Pair that with the stunning design and incredible build quality, and you have a banger of a device. Despite its shortcomings.

Open-box and refurb options can come with very low battery cycle counts and near-new condition.
Battery performance can hold up well for day-to-day use compared with other iPhone models.
The slim design can make the phone feel easy to hold and lighter than heavier iPhones.
The phone can arrive unlocked and essentially like new with a 100% battery.
The iPhone Air can have crackling speakers at medium-to-max volume on some content.
The single-camera setup can be a major deal breaker for buyers who want multiple lenses.
The thin chassis can limit speaker hardware and audio performance compared with pro models.
Marketplace sellers can be involved instead of direct Best Buy fulfillment for some listings.
