First off..you should look at a Sony bravia 9 to see how good an LED can be..or even better the new Bravia 9 Mk 2 version
Next...there are differences in OLED's. If you want one for a bright room you need to spend a significant amount more money
Even then to my eyes, the Sony processing is better
This coming from a person who owns the Sony A95L and the LG G5
The Sony A95L is the better of the two
In the Value Electronics ( and HDTV blind tests) the LG G5 came in 4th last year
This year the G6 performed better but still lost to the Samsung S95H
I would disagree with some of this

I am impressed you own two flagship OLEDs and that both of them were purchased in the last few years. I've read a lot about the models you're referring to mostly using detailed rtings reviews, but personally I'm very happy with my 65" $972 LG C5 as we have dimming lights in our family room and no sunlight. I was also impressed with the recent 77" OLED sales (e.g. Samsung S90F for $1085), but even getting used to the giant 65" size took us quite a while.
Personally, in my opinion, I don't consider Samsung's to be the best value because both articles and past experience show me that Samsung does NOT allow disabling all adware and promotions. My new LG C5, on the other hand, lets me easily create an extremely clean interface just by disabling live plus, home promotions, and targeted ads. Not having to use a separate streaming remote makes things feel so much easier. The LG C series also comes with a noticeably more durable body and stand than the Samsung S90F it directly competes against. As for Sony, I both read articles and owned a Sony TV a long time ago and was impressed by their top user friendliness and picture quality, but as far as I know the Sony A95L or even the Sony X90L never had an competitive sale price even in 65" size (65" Samsung S90C hit $1000 price and LG had similar sales at the time). I agree for people willing to splurge top dollar though, Sony makes some incredible TVs and I even agree paying a few hundred dollars extra for such top quality (e.g. user friendly, durable, etc) makes sense.

To your point..I am sure TCL sells a lot more QM8's than Sony sells bravia 9's
But to that same point I think there are differences in the top OLED's as well
And again, I am sure they sell more cheaper OLED's than they do the flagship OLEDs
Meaning, for example, LG sells a lot more B and C series than they do G series
Those people that are paying extra see the difference and think its worth it
I can certainly see the difference in the panels I just mentioned
Whether or not if its worth the difference in price is a matter of taste , worth and budget
Flagship anything is never the best value
