AT&T prepaid's annual plan stands out for direct AT&T coverage, 5G Plus access, unlimited talk and text, and 10GB of hotspot data at $240 upfront for new lines. The plan also gets credit for mid tier network priority and a simple annual setup once activated. The main drawbacks are the fine print and limits, taxes and fees can raise the total, the offer is new customer only, and the 16GB high speed bucket with 128 kbps fallback can feel tight. Canada and Mexico benefits are limited, so it fits best when AT&T coverage matters more than extras.

Does anyone know if this 16gb/m is the "premium data" or regular data which they deprioritize?
This is all I found in the offer details link; "Data: Plan includes 30GB of data per 30-day period at a maximum speed of 3Mbps in the U.S. If 30GB of data is used in a 30-day period, all data speeds are reduced to a max of 1.5Mbps for the remainder of the 30 days."

In general it is qci8 which is in between their best qci 7 and the least priority mvno qci9 priority.

I had ATT prepaid for years. I had their NON restricted data but it was only like 6gb which was fine but then I began using my hotspot a lot and I ran out of my total data quick. I upgraded to unlimited for just a couple months until I no longer needed the hotspot as much. I will say that I was running Graphene OS on my Pixel and ATT was not able to determine my phone data vs my hotspot data. So there was no hotspot CAP for me.
I m not sure if that was just some glitch or if it applies to all pixels running GrOS.
Not much help sorry.

The only real benefit i see in this plan over my current $300/year plan(242.25 with red card one day per year) is the speed after hitting the data limit. I actually just hit my data limit for the first time, and 128kb/sec was damn near unusable. Had to pay $25 for 5gb

I was on virtually the same plan for a few years and the biggest downside, and the reason I ultimately switched, was the throttling. If I burned through my data the fallback speeds were unusable. It was like losing your internet. I was at the point where I was adding data every month and they were charging a premium. Not sure what the fallback speeds are like now, but if they're unchanged, there's no way I would go back.

That $25 plan is not having 5G+ included. This one has 5G+ included for $20/month ( 240/12)

I signed up. It only let's you pay tne .99 for the sim card upfront. Once you receive it & put in tbe phone you can activate & pay. If you have a phone with a built in sim make sure you enter it upfront. You could lose service until port goes thru. Customer service is terrible but if you survive it, its a great deal.

FYI Taxes and "Fees" not included. At checkout they will only charge you for the sim card, then upon activation will charge you the $240 plus taxes and fees you may or may not be expecting. Taxes and fees vary by state. Not saying it isn't a good deal. I had AT&T annual prepaid for years and was happy with it. I just had to figure an extra $18 for taxes and fees into the calculation.
I've had the $300 yearly plan for a couple of years now. I pay with prepaid cards, and I don't have to pay taxes and fees. It's $300 flat except I buy prepaid cards when they go on sale for 10-15% off. I'm in Tennessee.
