AT&T prepaid's annual plan stands out for direct AT&T coverage, 5G Plus access, unlimited talk and text, and 10GB of hotspot data at $240 upfront for new lines. The plan also gets credit for mid tier network priority and a simple annual setup once activated. The main drawbacks are the fine print and limits, taxes and fees can raise the total, the offer is new customer only, and the 16GB high speed bucket with 128 kbps fallback can feel tight. Canada and Mexico benefits are limited, so it fits best when AT&T coverage matters more than extras.

For existing customers this deal is $300 for 12 months, for new customers it is $240 for 12 months. It states for activation on a new single line for the $240 deal.
This wasn't my experience, I had ATT Prepaid, and was told that even the $300/12 plan was new customer only. So I bailed for T-Mo.

No regrets so far except I get FAR more scam calls on T-Mo even using their scam shield or whatever it's called.

That deal requires only one month of the $45 plan. So maybe you can get it, do one month on the $45 plan, then switch to the $240 / year plan?

Currently have AT&T postpaid and have been trying to find a good way to port to AT&T prepaid. Always run into the problem that the 12-month prepaid plans (current deal and $300 deal) are for new customers / lines only. Considered Mint Mobile but came to learn that the customer service can be worthless.

Anyone know if you can port an AT&T number to numberbarn, then port from numberbarn into one of these AT&T 12-month prepaid deal plans? How long do you think you'd need to keep the number in numberbarn before AT&T would allow the port - maybe same day since it would not be seen to be AT&T to AT&T Prepaid???

Thanks for any help!!

Wondering if this stacks with Citi merchant offer:

Earn $50 Back on a purchase of a new eligible wireless plan of $65 or more.

$50 back on a new qualifying AT&T wireless plan purchase of $65 or more, by using your enrolled, eligible card. Make a first time single payment of $65 or more by 08/31/2026. Visit att.com/MobilityMC for more information. May be redeemed 1 time(s) by the offer end date.

Might.. but NO per the terms. "Offer not valid on any smartphone, accessories purchases, AT&T Prepaid, or Cricket Wireless products or services."

I have found Tello to be the best. Numberbarn is landline so you could run into issues on a quick roundtrip. Port to Tello (TMo MVNO) wait 24 hours min then let it rip. Or do a Metro deal and pick up a phone for peanuts that will unlock in a year.

You would have to port out on a different phone on a TMo or VZW MVNO then wait for the old AT&T plan to be expired to avoid issues.

Yeah, but isn't that only if you want to keep the same phone #?

The $240 plan is $300 if you are not a new customer or renewing.

True, but one can port out of the $45 plan, to a trial, and port out of the trial back into this $240 plan as a new customer.

I won't risk my primary number to a trial. I just pay a few bucks to be a customer.

Using this plan for 4 months. It's decent, not super fast. They do not include international roaming in Canada/Mexico and travel package would cost $40 for 30 days.
