Am I missing the point of where's the deal in this?
I worry tmobile will later say the condition is worse after the transaction, when you are stuck, and assess additional fees. At that point you have no way to refuse.
Regardless, the question was whether sales tax is charged on the pre-discount or post-discount price, and that too varies.

+1 this as well for grandfathered plans like Simple Choice. In the past few years, T-Mobile has been forcing Simple Choice customers out of their plan by increasing their per line costs by a fair amount. It definitely makes me think twice about locking myself into another 2 years via credits which I would lose if I decide to not continue with T-Mobile -- it's essentially the new 2 year contract via phone credits.
