My dad has a contractor and design business. He specializes in commercial building and has multiple brush dewalt tools that still get the jobs done. For most weekend warriors this is more than capable for people on a budget. Before there was brushless there were brushed and they were more than capable then and still are now.

Guys I'm 56 I had to retire to do a spinal injury after being a carpenter since the age of 15 with my best friend dad's business I learned a trade and used a lot of different drills. I started out with the old basic Makita was only lasted until the batteries were shot and way too expensive to buy new ones. I've had Craftsman I've had Porter Cable which was a joke I only bought that because this old house was promoting them. I have a 14-volt Porter-Cable that I put on the railing of a deck I had built about 6 ft off the ground it fell over and landed on to soft dirt soft black dirt and shattered the entire housing it was brand new messed up the trigger everything I couldn't believe it how cheaply made it was took that back went and got DeWalt. I used DeWalt until we upgraded to Milwaukee I went out and bought Milwaukee after trying it out for a couple years for myself paid $199 for both of them and can you believe I barely even use it for my personal home use and the clutch went out on it and I'm talking probably didn't even use it 10 times and not heavily I even paid for the extended warranty which made it 7 years and it went out and they wouldn't even cover it my batteries barely hold a charge for for no much I use them. I hear a lot of good things about the DeWalt XR top of line brand but I'm starting to hear a lot of people's liking the rigid pro line seems ok. But I'm not impressed by Milwaukee anymore. You know there's an old myth on MythBusters that a hammerhead doesn't explode they were wrong I witnessed it twice my friend's estwing hammer or just nailing and roofing nails for siding when part of the edge exploded off and he was using that same Hammer to help bust up some concrete on front door steps when it completely shattered it did give up a lifetime of service don't get me wrong but they claim that hammerheads don't explode and I have seen it twice.

I laugh whenever I see this set posted because it is so far out of date but yet Dewalt still sells 10s of thousands of them every year which is why the set still exists after all these years. Not a bad drill or impact on anyway shape or form but if you increase your budget by $50 you can get a newer brushless set and probably larger ah batteries to allow you to work longer and a lot less weight!

I patiently waited and purchased single tools and battery deals.

DCS565 saw $99
6ah battery with 6 Amp charger $62

All tools I bought are premium XR top of the line models.

Dewalt has only one or two kits with nothing but premium tools, but will cost you much more.
