Someone in this thread said it worked for them but I do not see how. Their GV number may have originated from a wireless carrier and then was ported to GV before they ported it out to Metro.
From now on, to maintain tactical flexibility and readiness, I will keep on hand a two SIM card kits (Tello+US Mobile) to generate qualified transfer lines in my old unlocked Pixel smartphone. For Metro specifically, Tello numbers will be disqualified because the numbers originate on the T-mobile network. But US Mobile numbers will qualify. Tello will come in handy for locked phone deals on the Verizon network and both Tello and USM numbers can be used for ATT MVNOs. That's my plan.
That's unfortunate. Would have loved to get one as a 2nd phone. US mobile is not cheap
I think you always have to verify a GV number with a real cell number (and/or possibly landline)
Are you sure you didnt port the triial number from Mint?
I don't understand what you're trying to convey. All I know is that GV numbers are VOIP and Metro will boink them if there's a port in attempt during checkout for a promotional discount on a phone. It makes sense because carriers offer these device deals as a competitive tool to pull in mobile users from their competitors. We're technically trying to loophole in this policy.

To port a personal Google Voice number out to a mobile or landline carrier, you must unlock the number in your account settings, pay a $3 fee, and provide your 10-digit phone number as the account number along with your voicemail PIN to your new carrier. [1, 2, 3]

Then after activated and you get a numbr you go to Access tab and you can find account number. Then there was a link to say Deactivate or leave or something like that .And I chose to keep my number and then got a popup about being charged $3 fee for porting out under 7 days. So $~4.82 + $3 is around $8
I am having an issue though as its Sunday, my device has not shipped yet all the info in the app blanked out. The MobileX app should work as a normal customer until the port initiates. But my texts and calls still work. Which I dont care about because I already entered my acct number and pin on Metro. I can't verify succes until I get my phone and activate,
The purchase screens look different from before, so maybe they also put in a new backend with some kind of verification system behind it.
