Cancel current plan and open new account under another household member. Been doing it this way for over a decade. Last I knew they consider each individual a new account holder after 6 months of not being a current customer.

It's not fiber if it runs over coaxial cable; the fiber only goes into your neighborhood, then is split and wired into the houses from wherever the fiber node is via coaxial cable. Coaxial cable is susceptible to weather and network load issues depending on how many are using it, so it's very likely the upload will never be symmetrical and most likely incredibly slow in comparison to the download speeds. It's a hybrid approach to save them money while still trying to market as it being fiber.

I'm an current customer with 2gig plan and wanted to step into the 1gig/$50 plan. I needed to officially cancel my service. Xfinity gives you a 10 day grace at that point to reconsider. Call them back the next day and they can offer the 1gig/$50 plan. Bingo..

In my area (San Francisco Bay) they seem to be pushing hard to give out XB10 modems. While they're the latest and greatest and potentially provide the fastest speeds, I had nothing but issues with them (severe slowdowns and/or completely dropping my connection). I asked them to switch back to an XB8 and have had a solid connection since. My guess is the XB10 is more susceptible to physical connection deficiencies than the XB8 and the wiring in my house is, or between my house and the street, is not up to par for the XB10.

XB8-T just got mine today. Same day delivery if ordered before 3pm. Will be canceling my $130/mo 2Gb plan for $50/mo 1Gb
