So existing customer here and I was able to get this deal. Used the chat bot and did "Internet issue" they immediately gave me a $70/month offer for 1gig (I didn't have to ask or mention anything). I asked about this promo and they said I wasn't eligible. HOWEVER, when you look at the offer they give you, clicking the link, it has TV service "NOW TV" on it for $20/month (it also had a -$60 discount, but still made it $70 total). I asked the chat rep to remove NOW TV and I was able to get the $50/month for 1gig offer (actually $60 but -$10 if you sign up for electronic billing). So it's definitely possible to get this similar deal as an existing member.
Where and how. No such "internet issue" option from app Xfinity Assistant.

The option showed up for me with the chat bot. I asked for "Human" first but it said I needed to choose an option from it's list first. And "Internet Issue" was one of the options so I clicked that. Then the agent just started diagnosing my modem and said they found that I am getting 800mbs but they can give me 1gig and lower my bill to $72 (from $75 πŸ˜‚). Which then started everything I mentioned earlier.

Yes. I just set up a new account following these instructions. Same name and everything, they just assigned me a new account number and sent new equipment. Got the free mobile line for 2nd year in a row too!
Do you keep the old equipment or use the new one?

I just activated my 2nd account. Renamed the SSID the same as the old modem and used the same password. Transparent move. All my devices accessed it without issue.

I got a callback to cancel my original account and told them I had 2 accounts at the same location and needed to cancel the old account. They proceeded to cancel it without issue or pushback about having the 2nd account. dropped off the old modem as well. my status is still diamond. my free top gun and independence day purchases show up on my iPhone but not my Android phone

1080 youtube streaming is struggling. it's going to take some time getting use to the downgrade but hey it's a $50/mo savings over 2gig pipe
How long did it take to receive your new modem? I just did this process yesterday and I didn't have the option to pick up the modem at a Comcast store like the last time - which would've been easier. I'm now waiting for the modem to ship/receive the tracking number.

And when they closed out your bill for the old account, was it just adjusted and pro-rated immediately after cancelling or did you have to wait for the end of your billing cycle?

Have you had any issues ever since doing this "loophole?" in having 2 accounts to get the new customer rate?

They over nighted the modem via instacart (Bringg). I received a SMS the following day with tracking. Streaming issue were probably due to stale cache. I went away for a week and came back with no issues. Everything is working fine.

Not sure about the old account billing. I canceled before the billing cycle.

I got the modem through Bringg as well late yesterday, but I also received a call early this morning to discuss my account. Then just now, I receive an email that my account had been closed.

I freaked out and checked online and it appears Comcast closed my old account (thankfully NOT the new one just made).

I haven't installed the new modem yet for the new account and still have Internet service on the old account account.

I'm wondering if I even have to call to cancel the old account. I'm assuming it takes time for the cancellation order to process and it'll eventually cancel by itself?

Appears Comcast / Xfinity is installing spy software into their routers.

Comcast is turning millions of its routers into motion detectors [theverge.com]

I did get the $50/mth Gig deal. They tried to push the phone line but since my phone is locked , they just put that part of the deal on hold. I had to be transferred to customer loyalty/retention dept to get the deal.

Just did this method and they applied the deal right away on the chat! Great way to save money for a few years. Really appreciate the workaround

Was able to get this deal via chat - Asked to be placed on the new promotion and they were able to do it for me through webchat. I followed a previous slickdealer suggestion to Type "Human" and then click "internet Problem" . I did not want to give my bank account access for the extra $10/off

You will receive the following monthly discounts:
GUARANTEE DISCOUNT of $50.00 per month for 60 months.

The following equipment and services remain unchanged: Unlimited Data at no charge;

Your estimated recurring monthly bill will be $60.00.

Unable to get with chat nor retention... 20+ year customer paying $95 a month for gig internet now and they said not available so I told them to shove it up their ass and disconnect internet and cable. Already have a T Mobile modem in my daughters room for Ethernet to her PS5 and it does surprisingly well. Looks like I'll be joining YouTube TV or something similar before football season. Communistcast can go to hell.

I added a new line. $50/mo for 5year @ 1Gb. Hooked it up. Got all my devices to connect to stress test the environment. All went well. Canceled my 2Gb plan that they were going to charge me $130 for, after my promo deal expired. 6 years as an Xfinity customer. YouTubeTV streamer, getting kickback rewards from credit card benefits. Seems to be working well.
