It is really smooth and plenty fast for most any 'normal' use cases.
I've never once had a single issue of any kind.
It is my favorite phone purchase and I am using this after having a much faster phone that used a SD 8 gen 3. That phone was zero percent better for everyday use in terms of perceived smoothness and speed and I had to flip it open & closed which I discovered sucks for me.
The rest of the family uses iPhones which are much faster on paper but not really noticeable in everyday use cases.
For gaming and video editing or similar heavy tasks the Stylus won't run with the big boys but I prefer to do most that stuff on a computer.
I emulate some games on the Stylus and it does GameCube perfectly but that is about the emulation limit. Any Android games I run on are not super resource intensive ones & I have not bothered to try anything heavier as I know it isn't for that type of play.
Anyway off topic.
This phone can do a lot and would still be enough for a great many people.
I can think of many reasons I would buy it if I didn't already have a few extra phones around.
The problem is not that is won't be enough to meet numerous users needs, the problem is it is locked to TracFone.
If it was an unlocked 12 , new for this price, I would instantly buy it for my dad. He has an older Android but I'd like him to have an iPhone now.
Some top reasons I would buy it even if I already had a good main phone.
I work in garage a lot on cars and wood working and other stuff and get very dirty and I like using a spare there for looking things up and DIY vids and stuff. Plus if it gets dropped it isn't as big of a loss.
I also keep a phone dedicate to household music and podcasts, that way it can be more community available & run the WiiM in the living room.
I sometimes take a spare phone biking or walking for music/podcasts emergency use or a quick look at a map or store hours but then I am still pretty disconnected from my everyday phone life.
Likewise for use at the beach on boats or when attending concerts.
Load music and stuff on it and use it in car without the auto insurance company dinging the driver. (I get a discount by having an app in the phone monitoring phone use and driving) Also this way a kid can use it while you are driving and not cause issues.
Give to a kid or teen for a 1st phone or a senior.
If you ever sell stuff on online local marketplaces it can be nice to have a spare.
Some folks use it as form of 2 factor, separate from the main phone
If you travel you may want a spare phone. (though ideally unlocked)
Really though this is enough phone for many to use as a daily driver. Lots of people out there forked out for 512gb phones and yet only 5 or 6 extra apps added and maybe 20 pictures and 1 video on it. Total waste.
If it was the 12 pro, that would be a plus..
But the reality has been that when you activate an unlimited plan with a transfer of service, the whole line converts to unlimited talk/text. The easiest way to tell if that happened is you will see one total for 18GB of data (instead of a current total of 12GB and a reserve total of 6GB). And you won't see the 6000 minutes in reserve.
Either way, your expiration date will be extended for one year. Worst case scenario, your 6000 minutes go back into effect a year from now. Or better case, your line remains unlimited all the way through.
