the full price is $360 on their website however people have reported being offered a 'deal' to stay, however not at $180.

Trick is to go back and forth every year between cheap annual offers, some work involved with the porting and what not, but definitely worth the savings.

My current plan is to switch between Mint and Google Fi on a yearly basis for my wife and I, chasing discounts. I've been happy with both. I do notice the better signal priority on Google Fi though. I work in a very congested area, I wouldn't notice outside of that.

There are many deals posted currently on SD, as mentioned Google Fi, also Total Wireless, Visible, Red Pocket, Lyca and some others.

My personal take is, I only try to do the 12 month offers. getting a $10-15 a month for 3 months deal may be nice, but to keep dealing with port in and port outs and glitches that can arise from starting a new carrier more than 1x a year is something I have no interest in messing with.

I am currently on MINT, my year cell plan ends in early December, so I too will be shopping around then for a deal if mint won't renew me at $180 for the year. But I have no complaints about their service, been very reliable and solid whereever I've used the phone.

Community Reviews

Mint Mobile's 12 month unlimited plan stands out for low annual pricing on the T Mobile network, with solid service and decent 5G coverage in many areas. The comments also point to smooth porting in some cases, helpful online chat for account and PIN details, and occasional renewal discounts that can drop the effective monthly cost further. The main cautions are deprioritization in crowded cities, extra taxes and fees, and a 50 GB slowdown on unlimited. Porting out can take extra steps, and activation or support problems have also been reported, so it fits best when coverage is strong and the savings matter most.

I have an extra phone that's going on the second year of service with Mint. The first was $180 for the first year ($15/mo). Without really asking when I renewed they gave a discount so it ended up being like $140 something for another year. So it ends up being about $12 per month. YMMV on the discount after the discount on the first year, not sure with what frequency those are given out.
to clarify, it this a 2nd line on a plan or the only Mint line on your account.

And is this the UNLIMITED everything plan? and not the 6gb of monthly data plan?

Mint mobile 180/12 months is common price
Many who have used Mimt rate it at 5/10
Yeah, with T-Mobile/Deutsche Telecom owning Mint the past couple of years no big surprise there. I'd expect that number to continue to drop although seeing the reviews it looks like Mint was doing a fine job alienating their customers even before that with bad service both in terms of signal and support.

That's enough of a reason for me to avoid them.
If I remember correctly, the last time I was porting out of Mint, I did it through chat (if that makes any difference).

Thanks for the heads up on ebay availability. Purchased there and account shows 12 months unlimited so I should be good.
May I ask you a couple of quick questions?

1. Will this be a new phone number when I buy and then I can port my current number over to mint to utilize this plan?

2. is it safe to buy an eSim on ebay?

I bought for a new line with a new number however mint did ask if I was porting so it shouldn't be an issue. However I personally can't say for sure.

The esim I bought seems to be working fine.

Thank you so much for writing a detailed response. I'm on mint 6gb, 1 year for $180 plan as well. I'll explore the other options you suggested.
YMMV, I can confirm the $180 renewal deal others have mentioned. I was on their 17Gb plan expiring last week. Called them to get my acct/PIN and told them I was switching to Visible Pro for $225 posted here recently. While they couldn't give me the Unlimited to match, they offered to keep me on 17Gb for $180.They did warn that the manual discount will show $261 in Mint app, but I checked my CC and it showed $201 (180+taxes).

If you buy 3 months, you can't renew at this price right? Or if they have this deal again sometime before your 3 month plan ends?

No guarantee but Mint Mobile usually has a similar deal around Black Friday. It may just be the plan or a bundle deal with a phone.

When you purchased the plan from ebay, do you need to pay some extra to Mint when activating your phone?
