It's a hp branded version so god knows. It's likely to be ODMed by maybe some asian manufacturers like colorful

Speaking from experience (had a prior Omen 4090 GPU, and have a current Omen 5090 card), they have decent OC potential and thermals. Not going to win any awards, but the 4090 in particular was rocksteady at a 5% OC for over 2 years (before I sold and updated to the 5090). Running the 5090 at stock. Oh. I ordered one of these, this will probably be the last chance to get 5090 at a "semi-reasonable" price (given the predicted market in the coming 6 months.)

That all being said, if you are in a good local market, you can sell the parts pretty readily at decent prices (and avoid ebay fees.)

I'm at $4,259.99 for the 9800X3D after awakening25 - what am i doing wrong?
Do you have EPP? EPP brings it down for about $~186 before the coupon) which should be right around $140 difference you are seeing.

This will replace RTX 3090 Ti which I think is smaller. I thought 5090 is 2 slots? I've been using Corsair SF850 PSU
I think only the Founders Edition are 2 lots. I have 3090 FE which is 2 slots - I never seen a 5090 FE though.

The 5090 is a lot bigger than my PNY 5070 TI - 3 cards slots and longer also.

This is a lot longer and thicker period that my 3090 FE and all other cards I have.

What is a realistic use case for such a powerful machine? What would you do to hit 80% of memory usage on such machines ?
Ang leading edge local AI use case will peg the memory and OOM the 32GB VRAM.

LLM - can easily run out of VRAM for 27B and higher models. Need to manage context window.

Video Generations - I run out of VRAM at times on certain models and duration / resolution.

etc. other stuff I don't use such as CAD and Creative Rendering will use up GPU resources - I don't use them, no real work exp but I know they will use the GPU. I've only see software requiring 5080 and not 5090 though.

Games? no idea.

I have an alienware r16 i9-14900k with an RTX 4090. I added a 4TB samsung 990 pro, and am sitting at 128GB of ram (2x64 since it only has two slots.) I only do office work and very occasionally do some gaming, like 2 hours per month. My main use case right now is powering an 8k60 monitor that displays 3 virtual machines simultaneously for remote work. Oh yeah, I paid $1900 total for the base machine (with 1tb nvme and 32gb ddr5) thanks to a slickdeal. I have a full year of warranty left, and can extend another 2-3 years. There isn't a way to get an extended on-site next day warranty on this HP is there? The one thing I really appreciate about my current R16 is it has next-business day on-site repairs should I ever need them. Is there ANY conceivable reason I should grab this deal? I'd move the samsung 990pro into this, as well as the 128gb of ram. Thanks for any feedback, insights, insults, etc Smilie

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Looks official, this is the first time 5090 Omen deals are OOS in just a day.... or was it 2?

I see both 9700X and 9800X3D SKUs as out of stock

If you already the machine in your cart, you can still place an order despite the product being OOS. I am not sure if it will get fulfilled or cancelled later but the order will go thru. You will get an order confirmation email and you will see the order in "My orders"

This was fun! See you at the next deal. or if you just have questions.

Congrats to those who pulled the trigger! Can we emote on this message so we can get a count of how many people actually ordered? I am genuinely curious how many people got in on this kind of deal. I don't think people always hit the "I bought this" icon. I know I forget to do it many times on deals.

lol its funny seeing people downvote you despite the great insight and good deal.
uneducated folks just blindly hate AI
qwen 3.8 doesn't have quality benchmark data out yet. There is actually indications that they gamed the version to specifically benchmark better for coding and agentic work. Comparing to opus is mostly marketing hype. Also, MTP isn't stable if you want to run a multimodal instance…

Anyone considering this for LLM needs to go in with eyes wide open - the large MOEs are where things are moving and there is no incentive to optimize for smaller model size when the run paid versions from a data center. Qwen 3.8 is somewhere around 2.4T and kimi3 is about 2.8T. There are also questions about the future of Qwen as they had a recent shakeup over rumors that they would discontinue open weight releases starting with Qwen 4.

If my goal was a chat completion LLMs, I would by a GB10 DGX Spark 128GB VRAM.

AI Video generation, music, etc benefit from local video models running MiniMax H3, LTX 2.5, and WAN 2.2 on ComfyUI.

if my only use case was LLM, I buy me that newly posted Macbook 16 w/ 48GB for $3k.

But 5090 and RTX 6000 still reign supreme for people wanting to make faceless youtube videos for some monetization.

Very true. I have written it many times also.

I still use my online sub for "real" LLM work. Because I need the speed and parallelization

The local AI def for secure stuff which I don't have but I am just really playing with it it for knowledge of some of the local LLM and experience with comfyUI of the sortsAll this playing is making me money somewhere.

I can point to many resources. I think a lot of people here know how to do it already given some of the comments I saw already. Webjock is one of them

If people really like it. I can write an easy guide to start using local AI.

But k am guessing some of the buyers were flipping them but they could try it also before selling. lol

Oh damn I just checked it and my last ditch test order was declined at 5PM, about 9p minutes after I placed the order! Should have placed the order when I was supposed to. Busy with work. damn

I thought it was a loop hole that they would honor it, I guess they actually have an inventory system.

Oh well, I thought I was gonna get one more on this deal. There will be another one hopefully within the month!

One of the Ultra 265 Variant shipped for me. One I was able to cancel successfully.

Now we wait for these AMD Variants to get shipped! So exciting.
