If he's super into it and you all enjoy it, you could upgrade to a better model later. If not, you would be able to recoup most of your investment pretty easily via FB Marketplace.
Edit: @BryanB1942 had his shipped from CA, mine ended up shipping from NJ. Interesting that they have warehouses on both coasts. 2-day delivery to NC
1) 5X is much, much quieter. 2) Even if you don't print multicolor the IFS is nice to have as you can easily swap what you print with without having to do it all manually. The cutting, loading, etc is annoying over time. 3) The fact it purges loaded filaments to the chute and not on your plate. 4) Nozzle wipe is nice (vs manually cleaning). 5) It works really well with something like the Space Pi X4. You can feed each dryer slot directly into the IFS slots. Much more annoying with the single 5m tube.
