Switch 1 games run on Switch 2. A lot of great games on Switch 2 at the moment. Fantastic time to buy.

This trade in deal mainly turns a Switch OLED or original Switch into a cheaper Switch 2, with the strongest appeal being the high trade value and easy in store pickup when the promo is recognized. The Switch 2 adds 1080p, HDR, VRR, faster loads, and smoother gameplay, while still playing Switch 1 games. The main knocks are the LCD screen, which can look washed out or smeary next to OLED, and the shorter battery life. Trade in rules and store handling vary, so accessories, model selection, and promo application can affect the final total.

Traded in a switch 1 and showed the promo In store.

Once the trade-in was approved, I asked her to confirm that the trade-in value was $150. She initially said it was only $75. I pointed out that there should be an additional $75 trade-in promotion. She then called the manager, who confirmed that the additional $75 promotion was reflected in their system. However, she explained that the trade-in receipt itself would only show $75. According to her explanation, once Best Buy accepts the trade-in, I should receive $75 for the standard trade-in value plus an additional $75 promotional credit back to my card.
After completing the pickup, I checked the order summary in my Best Buy account. Interestingly, the product total for the Switch 2 now shows $374.99 instead of the original $449.99. It appears that the additional $75 promotion has now been factored into the order price. Now the order summary shows Trade-in Promotion applied to product total.
But here is the story:
I ordered it for pickup on one store, and then I got a cancellation saying that the item became out of stock. So I thought oh that sucks, I'll try a different store, I chose a different store and then got a cancellation again. I was like wow these things are selling out faster than my button clicking could do. I then look again at the online inventory and was confused, the store I was choosing still said in stock.
So I chose yet a 3rd store assuming the inventory was wrong and chose a store a little further away that had inventory. Bought it and was prepared to leave to go pick it up as it should be ready in 1 hour.
Boom 5 minute later an email again sent out saying my order was cancelled.
I was like ok, whats going on, I then gambled to order online for shipment to my house instead and gambled that I would be able to do the trade in through shipping back.
Cancelled again twice more
I looked over the email and it said cancellation was due to "exceeding our orderable quantity limits"
In speaking with online support this was due to "anti-scalper" algorithms.. I was like ok, I didn't actually get any of my orders fulfilled how does an anti-scalper algorithm flag me when I got zero orders. The initial ones may have truly been related to stock issues but that shouldn't count against me as I didn't get a fulfillment.
So they told me to order as someone else.
I tried to order as my wife
boom cancelled again..
they have no clue online support how or why it was getting cancelled but blamed it again on AI (likely related to ship to address or similar last names, or IP address of my internet)
In the end I was prevented from buying because I was thought to be a scalper that only wanted one Switch 2 and got none.
I told the online agent that they need a way to override this block because when speaking with the customer and seeing that nothing was actually fulfilled, it makes no sense to block their ability to buy or like in this case it made me hesitate enough to decide not to buy
Good luck all, and if you get an inventory issue dont try to repurchase too soon or they also said go into bestbuy and just circumvent their online ordering as a work around (so basically they are beholdened to their AI bot)
To each their own.
