This bundle is a budget AA and AAA rechargeable battery set with a multi slot charger that stands out for convenience and higher power input. The charger has a 20 watt USB C port, USB A support, and can handle eight batteries at once, with some praise for its solid everyday use and no reported issues. The batteries are repeatedly described as decent for low drain gear like remotes, toys, controllers, and deadbolts, but the labeled 2800mAh capacity is often said to test closer to the low 2000s. Charging can also be slow, and the charger appears limited for capacity testing and some USB C cables.

I'll throw in my usual spiel. Know what you're getting. If you use them for things that you know you will be ok with lower capacity then they're fine. Things like kids toys, remote controls, video game controllers, things like that. I have a deadbolt that auto locks and this is great for that.

Just make sure you know what you're getting into
Right. It's all about expectations. If you are expecting the same performance out of these as Eneloops that cost 4 to 5 times as much, your going to be let down. If you have realistic expectations, you'll be happy. Eneloops are going to cost about 5 dollars, give or take a buck per battery. I mean just 4 AAA or AA Eneloops by themselves is going to cost more than this charger with 8 batteries.

Agreed. I have a ridiculous amount of EBL batteries and I've never once gotten one hit higher than 24xx mAh.I have no complaints about the quality of the battery, just that EBL should be honest with their customers.
So you capacity test all the AA batteries you buy?

I do, using my oldie-but-goodie LaCrosse BC-900 charger.

Seems to me that slower charging helps prolong battery life anyway due to less heat
I didn't think anyone still believed this. Yes, heat can be an issue but .2C charging with both a good BMS along with a temp sensor is MUCH better for speed & longevity.

I and most others would agree that Eneloop are the best but the best come at a premium price and if you actually use them on a regular basis, I call BS on you having them for over 10 years and they are still 90% capacity. They aren't magic. They are very high quality batteries , but they still use the exact same NiMH (nickel-metal-hydride) chemistry that most everybody else uses. Did you actually do a capacity test when they were new and then 10 years later or you just guestimating capacity?
Conflating chemistry with engineering implementation is more than a sizable stretch. Or just tantamount to saying they're all the same.

How about having a fan blowing on the charger? Should alleviate heat issue at higher charge rates.

Although .2C is the standard slow charge rate.

FYI: 1.2 volt batteries. not 1.5 volt. Very good deal for EBL! many electronics will report the batteries as dead or as dying when inserting freshly charged 1.2 volt batteries. I do like EBL 1.5 volt batteries for this very reason. Also, may i recommend XTAR LITHIUM rechargeable 1.5 volt and the 3-way or 4-way charger. (For example: XTAR aa Batteries 1.5V Battery 4150mWh or XTAR Triple AAA Rechargeable Batteries 1.5V Lithium 1620mWh AAA.) ( Charger example: XTAR VX4 V2 or XTAR L4 Pro).

tl;dr
if you want to charge one or two cells on the road, USB-C is great. 120V is my preference.

How do these EBL batteries compare to Panasonic eneloops?
Eneloop is higher quality but these are very solid and much cheaper

Saying you have really old Eneloops that still hold an amazing charge is believable, but thats a lot different than saying you have 15 year old Eneloops that you use regularly and they still hold 90% capacity as when they were new. Your moving the goal post. Probably after realizing how absurd sounding that claiming your batteries are 90% the original capacity after 15 years of use is.
Yea what he's saying isn't believable..if it's true then they were laying around not used

I have eneloops as well and these didn't let me down..they're solid..I have several dozen of them

I wanted to get those XTAR lithium batteries to replace non-rechargeable Lithium batteries in things like Blink cameras and Flume water monitors, but see a lot of reviews claiming they die early. Also, rechargeable lithium batteries apparently go from 1.5v to nothing with no warning, unless you get one with a system that emulates low battery prior to dying.

What has been your experience been with them?

Link me a good capacitance charger, I'll buy it and gladly provide you with the results.

Getting kind of shilly in here.
Imagine calling somebody who praises Eneloops a "shill".

Now who sounds absurd?

In theory it would, but in practice it's often worse for NiMH because most chargers can't properly detect when the cell is fully charged when charging at low rates. Healthy NiMH cells should only heat up substantially when they're being overcharged. This happens even at fairly low rates. It's often better to charge at a moderate rate so the charger can detect when to terminate charging more reliably.

I don't care if Eneloops are the best. I already agreed they are but anyone that claims their rechargeable batteries no matter what brand has lasted 15 years with regular use and are still at 90% original capacity is either a shill, lying, or ignorant. Praising a battery is one thing but claiming 15 years of regular use and are still at 90% original capacity is just ridiculous and 100% not true.
