Do you get to pick T-Mobile vs Verizon when you sign up? Or do they pick it based on your zip code?

Love infimobile. Have had it for 6 months now, and it has been outstanding for me. I also (generally speaking) love Amazon. Unless I'm misunderstanding though, I don't particularly love this particular Amazon "deal." Directly from the infimobile website I see options for 10 GB per month for $75, as well as 20 GB for $120. Given those alternatives, I don't see why on earth anyone would pay $112 for 15 GB?

I used them a few years ago when they were first getting going and could never get MMS to work even after troubleshooting multiple times with their support. Anyone have those issues today?

If you purchase a SIM loaded with a plan from Amazon, yes, you can clearly choose between T-Mobile vs. Verizon.

I honestly did not remember what happens if you try to do it through the Infimobile website directly, but I just tried it again. I only have an phone with a physical SIM slot, not an eSIM one, so I went that route. But after putting in my area code and the IMEI for the phone, I got the choice of either Verizon or T-Mobile (took a screenshot of this, but I can't seem to attach it). I suspect it would be similar for the eSIM purchase, too. But if you happen to be in an area where coverage by V is better than T, or vice versa, who knows if they would give you the option. But you could always just use an area code where your preferred network is strong.

I hear ya. Their new "unlimited" is what I am moving the rest of the family to. The two lines currently were for testing.
I just renewed a couple of lines for yearly, unfortunately. Will see if I can move the rest of our lines to a family plan.

I have ported over four numbers--all from Red Pocket--and there was zero problems on the Infimobile side to port in the numbers, but yeah, there were (maybe still are?) problems on the Red Pocket side to port out.

On the Red Pocket side, you have to disable the port out blocker (or whatever it's called) and then explicitly request that you want to do a port out, at which point you are given your account number, the port out PIN, etc. This is all done on the Red Pocket website. Both of those steps require a TFA, so there is no way to get to this stage by accident.

After I did that, via a chat with Red Pocket customer service, they said everything should be set because I had done the two necessary steps to do a port out. Well, lo and behold, on trying to port in to Infimobile, they were saying Red Pocket was denying the transfer.

So I went back to Red Pocket and talked with another customer service agent who tried to convince me to not port out with alternate plan options, etc., but then finally gave in and said everything was set on their end. At that point, I went back to Infimobile, and the port in succeeded.

When this happened with the second number I tried to port over a few months later, I realized that this was not just an accident. Even despite completing the two active steps that require TFA to indicate one's desire to port out of Red Pocket, well, they still hold the number and only release it once you talk with a CS rep. This is complete BS, of course, but that's where we are.

Yes, for the third and fourth numbers I ported over, the same thing happened but I already knew what to expect. I feel bad for less motivated folks who might want to port out of Red Pocket, but get stuck when they put a hold on port out even though one has gone through all the necessary steps on their website to enable that possibility.

I did initially buy some Infimobile plans/renewals from Amazon, but I now renew via the Infimobile website directly, where the option is given to start a new plan immediately, or add it on to an existing line. And so far, I have seen both of these options presented, even when the Infimobile webpage says that a particular offer is for new activations only. They may change it one day.

Regarding Amazon purchases being for new numbers only, I cannot verify this or not. The last Infimobile purchase I made through Amazon was a bit more than a year ago so I have no recent experience. But keep an eye on the Infimobile website directly because it has deals that Amazon does not, and vice versa. So while the 15GB/month plan is not on sale at the Infimobile website right now, it probably will be in the future. And at that point, you could definitely migrate over a number and not be forced to get a new number (if that is actually the case via an Amazon purchase).
I've done this as well. The only problem I have with this method is that Infimobile charges more fees, etc...than you would pay if purchasing from Amazon....If I remember correctly.

Yeah, I mentioned this in another post--in the past, when buying a year-long mobile plan, they charged one of the fees (I think the E911 one) 12x for each of the months of the year so that meant an extra few bucks. But recently, on stacking the 20GB/month for $120/year onto my four main lines, there was only one E911 charge, and total taxes/fees on the $120 purchase were <$4. So it looks like they fixed the multi-charge issue.

Their Amazon deals usually sync up with the deals on their website, which ends August 31st so I would assume this is also valid until August 31st.

That's because it IS terrible. Importing a phone from Europe that shares ALL the bands they use. Connect to the network, works for about two minutes before customer support calls me and says I can't use a verboten phone.

Back to Red Pocket. Works every time.

You can try downloading TextNow app. I get SMS verification messages, but I also have a physical SIM from them. So that might be it.

The biggest issue is you have to use the number regularly or it'll be lost. I'm talking set an alarm every Sunday to text someone using the app or you'll lose the number.
