A "Hey I just watched a movie" thread

One of the other forums I go to has one of these threads and I've been turned on to some good movies that other regulars just watched. I was kind of surprised not to see a similar thread here (at least not that I could find.) Big Grin

I just rewatched "Kinamand" - a cute drama about a Danish plumber who gets involved in an arranged marriage with a Chinese illegal. Good stuff (Netflix instant.)

So what have you folks watched recently?

"Cronicas" - A really well acted South American crime/journalism movie.

"Before the Fall" - A boarding school/Hitler Youth movie. Pretty good.

"Perfume..." - As recommended here. It really did remind me of Sweeney Todd. I totally didn't see that ending coming at all.

"The Disappearance of Alice Creed" - I really liked most of this movie - lots of plot twists. The beginning was really creepy. The ending was kind of a letdown to me, but overall I enjoyed it.

"Nowhere in Africa" - German refugees flee to Kenya in WWII.

"Dial M for Murder" - I just can't get into most Hitchcock movies. I know it's a classic and all but it just doesn't hold my interest.

"Ashes and Diamonds" - A late WWII era film set in Poland. It was a bit of a tough watch. It wasn't terrible, but not the "foreign classic" I was expecting.

Watching lots of pre-production code movies with Loretta Young...

Watched an entire season of Weeds in one sitting. Need more viewing material. Need more distraction.

So did you watch it and what did you think? I still have mine from Netflix too, and got about 5 minutes into it last night when I got company. By the time they left I wasn't in the mood to watch a movie, so it still sits in the Bluray player. One of these days!

I think my husband and I burned through all of Weeds in a little over a week. My daughter and I are hooked on Samantha Who and DH is a Twilight Zone junkie right now. We don't have cable so Netflix saves us when there is nothing worth watching on reg tv.
