The details of this system seem to get the iGPU wrong every time it is posted. The 7640HS has the 760M, not the 780M.

WAY overkill. You just need a Roku stick or a Fire stick or the cheapest Google streamer. We're talking prices that start around $20. As a bonus, they come with remotes, too.

Yes, excellent chip for that. You can emulate everything up to Wii at at least 1440p. PS3 through switch will run mostly at 1080p but you should double check the performance of certain games like Zelda totk before expecting it to run great

Looking for expert opinions. Would this be a good replacement for a home desktop PC? I have about 20+ chrome tabs and 6+ spreadsheets open at any time. Occasionally use RAM intensive picture/video software such as Photoshop. Will this mini PC be a good PC for such?

The main question is the iGPU. While I prefer AMD, this is one area that Intel has excelled in for a while with Quicksync. Hardware transcoding for Plex has been less straight forward on AMD GPUs. Unless someone here has first-hand experience, you need to Google something like "plex 760m". Go down that rabbit hole a bit to find out what the current concensus is around Plex supporting the 760m iGPU.

Other notes:
  • This system has very little storage for a media server role. You'd want to combine it with something like either external USB storage or a separate NAS. This may be obvious, but it's worth mentioning.
  • The CPU and RAM are both way overkill, which doesn't hurt anything. That is, unless Plex doesn't support the 760m iGPU very well. If that's the case, then the CPU may go from being hardly used at all to not powerful enough for 4k or multiple streams.

Anyone know how this compares with this unit the AM02 https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...4itemAdapt that I see for about $205 after they $20 coupon?

I'm asking because I already have a 1TB nvme but I'll need to buy a stick of 16gb ram which I currently don't know how much additional that'll cost but I assume $130?
