Yeah but who would you transfer to? They're all just as bad or worst, Verizon, ATT costs more still even with the increase in price at TMobile.

Well, they don't have to "dig up street" to add infrastructure, doesn't even run under the street generally.

The whole city of Aurora has banned any new "unsightly" wires on poles. Existing ones are allowed but no new ones so if fiber doesn't already exist, it will have to be trenched. To me it sounds exactly like a gift to Comcast Xfinity...

They purchased Lumos and rebranded it to T-Mobile fiber where I'm at. They're doing a pretty extensive build out here in St. Cloud, FL. They just finished my neighborhood so now I can pick between Quantum fiber (AT&T), T-Mobile fiber and spectrum (though this is coax)

It's not the same everywhere, newer build outs will likely get XGSPON (which is what they recently finished building out in my neighborhood), legacy fiber networks like yours run GPON (which is why the fastest speeds are 2Gbps/1Gbps). I currently have quantum (ATT) which is running GPON and pre-ordered T-Mobile fiber because they're running the newer stuff

We just got fiber in our neighborhood and it's actually pretty cool how they installed it. They tunnelled conduit underground and then ran the fiber through it. No torn up streets or yards! The only digging in our yard was when they had to install the junction box.
