Does this provide you your own number? Or have to port in?

Yes, but many want this for the one year service that they harvest over to an existing tracfone account.

correct, after a year of paid service on the phone. can't just stick it in a drawer unopened.

Yeah. No doubt! I buy these for the 1yr cards alone. They become my spam lines.

these are also great for a second emergency line. my 77 year old mother lives in another state and i have one of these sitting on her counter at a loud ring level just in case she loses her phone or has her other phones volume down.

I and my family have been using Tracfone for our cell service for 20 years, but we're now ready to switch. Ever since Verizon bought the company last year, their system has been VERY glitchy.

You're not wrong. I now have to call a human representative to add the one year service plan to my existing Tracfone account.

That's because phones don't come with a subscription card. They are pre-loaded with the one year service expiration date and you have to take extra, manual steps to move that to your existing Tracfone.

Bought one of these for $30 on Walmart. Never set it up with the phone plan and only use it as a WiFi streaming device. As long as you don't set up the sim you can use it as a WiFi device.

Yes unlerks in one year. Until that time, the phone lerks in your bedroom and watches you go to the bathroom. Definitely lerks for the 1st year.
