Good luck to anyone trying this. I tried and despite being show and offered the promotion I wouldn't see the deal applied at check out. The service is not worth the $65 they want so I called to see why the promo wasn't being applied. They told me I have to complete the transaction to see the promo. It seemed weird to me for it to work like that so I called again to speak to another person who told me the same thing and assured me I would get the promo and if I don't to call back and it will be applied. She even sent an email saying I will get it just incase. To no one's surprise I didn't get the promo and they are now trying not to honor it or refund me. They seem to have no problem lying and scamming people.

So you activated the line and they didn't apply the discount? The rep told me to activate first then they'll adjust the discount.

If I get the premium for 3 months, use the Google one back up (say about 80gb) and then decide to cancel or downgrade, what happens to my excess data from free ? Any thoughts

"If the link isn't working properly or you don't see the ad, click here for the promotional offer, or go to the Phones category to find the ad."

I think this is wrong and the source of confusion. The FAQ says you need to go from Google Play for the code to apply.

People are going to do the checkout and have to fight for something they were never targeted for. Customer service doesn't seem to understand what's happening. They're probably assuming people legitimately were offered this deal.

Could be an excuse except for at least two reasons in my case. First being the fact I didn't get or even find out about the promo here. I was searching carriers looking for deals on the new iPhone and had a sponsored ad at the top saying something like "up to $1,000 off" from Google fi and when I clicked it and then went to plans it showed me the the 75% off page. Didn't see anything for the phone but that peaked my interest since I just burned through the last of my promo period with my current carrier. Second reason is the fact they told me, and from the sounds of it, others to complete the purchase regardless of what it shows telling me it shows up after the order is placed.
A freebie third is also the fact that I was so hesitant to complete the purchase that they offered to send me an email so I would have physical proof that I am going to get the deal. Telling me I shouldn't worry because even if it fails to show after completing the transaction that the email is a garuntee customer support will honor it if I have to call back. There's no excuse for misleading people in to a purchase, especially if they don't know what's going on with the deal like you claim. It's either negligence or fraud. Both are inexcusable.

Yep, no promo applied. Keep getting told they are escalating the matter and it will be resolved in 24-48 hours. That has come and gone and everytime it's "don't worry, it will be fixed in 24-48hours. They sure took the money within that time frame though.

ROFL I just ran screaming from Tello.

I had service outage(s) almost daily. My best speed after everything averaged about 5 mbps (at 3AM). It took 2-1/2hrs to get an Amazon confirmation one day.

I'm tech savvy enough to know the troubleshooting drill for myself. But dootifully replayed it all over & over again on command. I made every contact w current stat updates & continued to get treated like I was an idiot calling in for the first time.

After weeks of their so-called support I was told that the towers in all the zip codes of both my surrounding states were just bad. :/

That would be the same towers that my Google Fi data has clocked speeds of 100+mbps at "rush hour" congestion.

It was $10/mo & I finished the 3 mos to let my referral have their bonus. But never, ever again.

Tello & Redpocket give me the same animosity as you seem to have for Fi. I think we all have one of those lists. Each justified by their own litany of horrors.

Unfortunately internet & phone providers really are just a necessary Evil.
I was thinking of switching to Tello based on the reviews. How is T-Mobile in your area since Google Fi is on T-Mobile

Tello is deprioritized T-Mobile. If you live in a congested area, you might not have the best service, but it works pretty well for most people.

KayOttic said that they had trouble with it, but it worked well for me. I couldn't tell a difference between Tello in my region and Google Fi. YMMV. It's cheap enough when the promos come around that it's worth giving it a shot.

The $19 Unlimited plan promo just ended, but they should have another one soon.

I'm not a good example. I had m/t a 2 wk delay between sign up & activation. Mostly because I was finishing another plan.

But the billing page says my -75% promotion is in progress & did even before I activated. Before my actual billing. Whenever I got billed it said how much for my full plan, taxes & fees plus the amount deducted for my -75% promo.

My referral bonus is also listed as being in progress. But it hasn't activated yet.

You have 30 days to activate. Anyone who has the time can wait it out until everything is corrected.
Wait a minute, did you sign up for the 75% off on the previous promo? This promo is totally different and is targeted, the last one was open to everyone, so that's probably why you were able to get it. You said there was a "2 week delay between signup and activation" but this 2nd time the promo was just announced, so there's no way you could have signed up under the new terms.

This guy just tried to do what you said, and Fi told him to go pound sand:

I said ...
After weeks of [Tello's] so-called support I was told that the towers in all the zip codes of both my surrounding states were just bad. :/

From published stats & past experience I already knew Tmo was just fine even though I live in a city & in a geologically challenging location.

Tello messed up the gateway protocol for my profile. As soon as there was any traffic in the area I got bounced. Basically I was always throttled.

Instead of fixing my account they just blamed the carrier. They wouldn't even send me a new SIM card even though I asked half a dozen times.

No more drops & my speeds improved immediately once I ported to Fi. A couple of weeks ago I got an unlocked Moto G Power 2025 5G from Amazon Renewed. Just clocked 222mbps in a rainstorm.

Thank you Google Fi.
